Job Description GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and tooling. Fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines. Apply knowledge of mechanics, machine shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, blueprint reading and machining procedures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, CNC/ Manual milling machines and grinders. • Set up, operate, and adjust machine tools to perform precision machining operations. • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of math and measurement instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers and gage blocks. • Measure, examine and verify completed components in order to detect defects and insure conformance to specifications. • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to complete the operations required for the project. • Assist other manufacturing engineering and maintenance personnel in fabrication, troubleshooting, and repair of Red Wing Shoe Co. equipment and systems. • Machine spare parts, repair parts and other shoe machine and system related components. • Design fixtures, tooling and experimental parts to meet special engineering or maintenance requirements. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintain quality service by establishing, following, and enforcing organization quality system standards. • Complete other duties as assigned from time to time by your manager. • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, classes or programs.
