Sets up and operate machines such as lathes, milling machines, gearing machines, grinders, manual machines, and deburring equipment to machine metallic work-pieces by performing the following duties. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Ensure a safe work environment for self and others. Follows all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate commitment to safety program. • Perform all duties of Machining Set-up personnel as needed • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine controls. • When requested by engineering, evaluates experimental procedures and recommends changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to set-up and production. • Tests new programs and processes within area of responsibility beginning with set-up and proceeding through the production process. • Confers with engineering, supervisory and manufacturing personnel to exchange technical information. • Establishes work instructions for new part's production. • Lays out and verifies dimensions of parts, using precision measuring and marking instruments. • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. • Touch up points, copy/paste programs & points, and adjust feed & speed on robots as needed • Move controls to position tool and work-piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds and depth of cut. • Provide excellent customer service to internal customers • Promote a positive atmosphere. Notify supervisor/lead of non-conformance parts immediately. • Adjust machine settings with assistance when necessary. • Consistently and accurately complete all related paperwork/documentation. For example, inspection reports, part counts, scrap tags, material tags, etc. • Monitor fluids in machine and coolant flow in machine. • Utilizes the 5-S principles (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain) to maintain an orderly, clean and safe work area. • Regularly meet or exceed efficiency requirements. • Produce parts that meet the Company's quality standards. • Actively participates in CIP events to improve the safety, quality, and efficiencies of our current processes and procedures. • Support and positively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. • Work at a consistent and steady pace, be prepared to work each day, and report to assigned work center in a punctual manner. • Communicates with supervisor and co-workers in a professional manner • Ensure work center is prepared for the next operator.
