Video: What We Do Duties: • Operate horizontal and manual vertical lathes, milling and grinding machines, VTL's, Jig Bores, Bridgeports, rubber grinding, Prototrack, drill presses and other special shop equipment for repair of parts. • Work from process travelers, blueprints, parts drawings, manuals, specifications and verbal directions to determine proper dimensions and tolerances of finished part sequence of operation, and setup requirements. • Measure mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material • Modify parts and materials to improve overall production, test completed equipment to detect and remove defects, perform maintenance on machinery. Knowledge: Use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and the division of numbers including decimals fractions; simple use of formulas and specifications, where interpretation is required involving basic skill knowledge. Requirements: • 2 years machining experience required • High school diploma or equivalent required • Experience with different machine tools and equipment • Must be fluent in English, i.e. speaking, reading, writing Physical Demand: Moderate physical demand frequently lifting or moving average weight material. • Minimum lift floor to waist - 25 pounds • Minimum lift waist to shoulder level - 25 pounds • Minimum pull - 40 pounds Due to government regulation only US persons (U.S. citizen, U.S. naturalized citizen, U.S. permanent resident, holder of U.S. approved political asylee or refugee status) may be considered for this role. Machine Operator

Come join the team at United Steel, New England's largest fabricator and erector of structural steel and miscellaneous metals! United Steel is currently seeking experienced Machine Operators with 2-3 years' experience. Safely operate simple machines and uses overhead cranes and other material handling devices. Work performed requires experience, initiative, and the ability to perform regular duties under minimal supervision. Assist and interact with other department and engineering personnel during the course of duties. Duties & Responsibilities • Performs typical machine shop operations to support production needs. • Detects and reports potential issues or questionable conditions to department supervisor. • Maintains the works area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required. • Must be able to perform operations on two to three of the following crucial pieces of equipment: Saws, Drill, Pedi-Rider, Copier, Plate Duplicator, Angle Master, or Shear Brake • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above. • Must be willing to receive and accept frequent supervision and assistance with regards to machine set ups/changes overs • This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
