Job Overview Uptown Heating & Cooling is an HVAC startup seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead HVAC Technician. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair various equipment. This role involves working on both residential and commercial systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. You'll be at the ground level of a new business which leaves unlimited potential to grow. In the coming months, we're looking for an experienced HVAC tech that can grow with us and eventually help to train and manage more techs. We'll make sure that you are well-paid. Duties • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including refrigeration units and boilers. • Perform routine inspections and diagnostics on heating and cooling equipment. • Troubleshoot issues related to refrigerant levels, airflow, and electrical components. • Conduct equipment repairs and replacements as necessary to ensure system efficiency. • Collaborate with property maintenance teams to address HVAC-related concerns. • Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and maintenance performed. • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their HVAC needs. Skills - Cooling • 608 certified • Understanding of complete refrigeration cycle • Ability to identify parts of an AC system(Filter driers, TXV, Piston metering devices, AEV, pressure switches, reversing valves, defrost controllers, heat strips, lineset sizing, ductwork types, transformers, capacitors, contacters, relays, ecm blowers, hermetic/semi-herm compressors, surge protectors, hard starts, suction line accumulators, liquid line receivers, king valves, solenoid valves, etc.) • Proficient in refrigeration systems and equipment repair techniques. • Strong knowledge of 120/24v electrical diagnosis across system components • Ability to interpret resistance readings and microfarad readings • Wiring diagram proficiency • Understanding of superheat/subcooling troubleshooting and diagnostics(overcharged, low charge, restrictions, leak detections, txv troubleshooting, etc.) • On-site sheet metal/ductwork fabrication & insulation • Familiartiy with slip & drive connections, flexduct, round and spiral • Condensate drain knowledge • Brazing, soldering, flaring • Compressor replacements • Refrigerant recovery process • Nitrogen tests • A2L knowledge a bonus • Delta T & Temperature Differentials • Static pressure and CFM Skills - Heating • Furnace service diagnostics(120/24v diagnosis, thermostat testing, inducers, pressure switches, hot surface igniters, direct spark ignitions, gas valves, flame rollout switches, thermal limits, flame rectification, flue/exhaust troubleshooting, etc.) • Furnace installations • WC to PSI • Hydronic & Steam Boiler service diagnostics(Oil, NG, LP. - Familiarity with Aquastats, zone valves, circulator pumps, backflow preventers, PRVs, air separators, high limits, low water cutoffs, mixing valves, thermostatic radiator valves, reset controllers, spill switches, dampers, etc.) • Boiler piping(Copper, pex, black metal, press fittings, sweating, and threaded pipe) • Head, gpm, and flow resistance calculations • Knowledge of hydronic one-pipe loop systems, diverter tees, two-pipe direct/reverse return, primary/secondary pumping, radiant floor zones, etc.) • Combustion analysis and tuning • Indirect/gas/electric water heater installation, diagnosis, and repair If you know what you're doing in the HVAC business and you're looking for a good opportunity at growth and stability, please apply for this job.
