HVAC Technician

Job Title: Senior/Lead HVAC Technician Location: Northampton, MA Position Type: Full-Time About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Technician to join our team. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial and/or residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, problem-solving, and customer service skills, while also mentoring junior technicians and ensuring top-quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities • Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, VRF/VRV systems, and refrigeration equipment. • Lead and oversee complex installations, retrofits, and commissioning of HVAC systems. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and safety regulations. • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices. • Communicate effectively with customers, providing clear explanations and recommendations. • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and documentation. • Respond to emergency service calls and participate in an on-call rotation, as needed. • Collaborate with project managers and contractors to ensure successful project execution. Qualifications • Experience: Minimum 5+ years in HVAC service, installation, and repair (commercial and/or residential). • Education/Certification: • EPA 608 Universal Certification (required) • NATE Certification (preferred) • State HVAC license or equivalent (as required) • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical HVAC components. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, meters, and modern HVAC software. • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and customer service skills. • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Physical Requirements • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. • Work in varying conditions, including confined spaces, rooftops, and all weather environments. • Stand, crawl, kneel, climb ladders, and bend for extended periods.
