Experienced HVAC Service Technician

HVAC Mechanic

Position Title: HVAC Mechanic Employee Classification: HVAC Mechanic College/Division: Facilities and Services Department: 500770-FS MECHANICAL Internal or External Search: External - Open to all applicants Location: Las Cruces Offsite Location (if applicable): Target Hourly/Salary Rate: $ 17.85 Appointment Full-time Equivalency: 1.0 Exempt or Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Summary: Join our team as an HVAC Mechanic! Install, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC systems. Ensure optimal performance. Requires Journeyman Refrigeration License and EPA certification. Classification Summary: Installs and maintains the many mechanical, electrical and electronic components, such as motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats and switches that are part of heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. Maintains, diagnoses, and corrects problems throughout the entire system using special tools and test equipment. Classification Standard Duties: Performs troubleshooting and repair of building distribution systems including low pressure steam distribution, heat exchangers, hot and cold deck systems, air handlers, and pneumatic and digital controls; Performs HVAC system inspections and manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance; Performs major component replacement work in conjunction with central energy management and control system operators; Performs seasonal overhauls and instructs repair teams in transition of systems from heating to cooling and vice versa; Monitors and adjusts system set points and output using remote computer links to the building's programmable logic controls; Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices; Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
