From troubleshooting to repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance — you’re the expert our customers trust. Responsibilities: • Provide the highest level of technical ability, quality, value, and integrity to our customers • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration units for commercial customers. • Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems • Travel to job sites in service area and work with dispatcher to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer • Be available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers • Maintain good working order of company vehicle, equipment, and electronics • Maintain stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle • Document details of services and parts provided to customers electronically through iPad applications • Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and be able to explain need for and value of recommended solutions • Participate in company-provided training opportunities • Identify and report potential opportunities for additional business (new unit/ system, PM contracts, and additional services) What We’re Looking For: • High school diploma or GED • Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an HVAC/R field technician • EPA certification and a valid driver’s license • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills • Ability to read and interpret schematics and work plans • Basic comfort with mobile apps and technology • A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to quality • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays when needed Physical Requirements: This is a physically active role. You should be able to: • Lift up to 100 lbs • Stand, climb, kneel, crouch, bend, and work with tools for extended periods • Operate devices such as iPads, phones, and power tools • Work indoors and outdoors, often in commercial settings

Mechanical/Plumbing/HVAC Technician

The Mechanical/Plumbing/HVAC Technician shall report to the Associate Vice President of Operations and Special Projects. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Monitors and maintains Facility Management System (FMS) and inspects the work activities of any assigned project; plans and develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules, and procedures for equipment maintenance. • Performs repair, maintenance, inspection, and installation of HVAC systems including but not limited to boilers, chillers, and compressors; checks, services and repairs HVAC equipment and facilities management system; reads gauges and instruments and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid pressure and distribution in systems; tests malfunctioning systems and components; performs planned maintenance, regular servicing, and repairs to refrigeration equipment of all types, sizes, and temperature ranges. • Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing and domestic water systems; inspects joints, valves, pumps, boilers, heaters, sinks, commodes, tanks, valves, and other plumbing system components to locate malfunctions and repairs or replaces when necessary; operates a variety of plumbing equipment and hand tools such as snakes, threaders, etc. to repair/maintain systems. • Maintains records of repairs or equipment requiring future service. • Performs minor electrical repairs and testing; inspects and tests all firefighting equipment and fire alarm systems; maintains plant, mechanical rooms, tunnels, maintenance shop and all job locations in a safe, clean and orderly manner. • May serve on various campus committees as assigned. • Performs other duties as assigned or required. • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. New Mexico Journeyman JPG and New Mexico Boilers 2 Operators License. Must possess a valid New Mexico or Texas driver’s license. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Knowledge of all applicable codes, standards, and regulations. • Knowledge of the mechanical operation of equipment such as pumps, boilers, heaters, other plumbing components, HVAC or refrigeration tools, materials, and test equipment. • Knowledge of math sufficient to estimate labor and material costs for planned projects. • Skill in installing, repairing, and maintaining all types of plumbing and mechanical systems. • Skill in reading and understanding schematics. • Skill in analyzing HVAC or refrigeration malfunctions from performance and test equipment readings and determining appropriate repairs. • Skill in leading the work activities of self and others. • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students, and the public. • Ability to prioritize projects, coordinate multiple requests, adhere to deadlines, and coordinate projects with carpenters, electricians, millworkers, and other trades to reach project completion. • Ability to maintain appropriate records of time and materials sufficient to report daily, weekly, and monthly progress. • Ability to maintain and repair hand and power tools sufficient to ensure their availability and safe operation for projects. • Ability to perform work involving regular physical activity. • Positions may require the ability to move up to 50 pounds safely, work on heights of 6 feet, and drive a forklift, truck, or other equipment.
