HVAC Install Technician

HVAC Install Technician Job Description Position Title: Residential Install Technician Reports to: Residential HVAC Install Manager Pay Classification: Non-Exempt Pay Type: Hourly Summary An HVAC Installer’s tasks include installing, maintenance, repairs, and service to heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems that control the air quality and temperature in buildings. HVAC Installers provide service and support for industrial, commercial, and residential HVAC systems. HVAC Installer services equipment on one job site or service various sites throughout the day. A large part of an HVAC Installers work often involves designing, fabricating, and installing a wide range of duct fittings and ducts required and wiring both indoor and outdoor units. Duties and Responsibilities As an HVAC Installer, you will travel to our clients’ properties, inspect their current equipment, find defects in their devise, and perform the required repairs or maintenance routines. The HVAC Installer must be skilled in cleaning, adjusting, and repairing systems. You will inspect and ensure that new systems work efficiently. • Inspect the effectiveness and safety of current customers HVAC system • Installing, maintaining, and repairing customers ventilation, air conditioning systems, and equipment up to current codes • Diagnosing HVAC systems for electrical and mechanical defects. • Cleaning, adjusting, and repairing systems, and performing warranty services • Maintaining a detailed inventory of all HVAC equipment and resources. • Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act • Participate in all technical training • Complying with service standards, work instructions, and customers’ requirements Requirements and Qualifications • Valid Driver’s License • Must be insurable • EPA Certificate preferred • State licensure and relevant certification • Punctual, reliable and must have strong communication skill • Able to get along with people • Strong verbal and oral communication skills • Attention to detail, prioritization skill, and time management • Motivational and communication skill • Knowledgeable and problem-solving skill • Able to follow instructions • Physically fit and manual dexterity • Familiar handling all tools and equipment needed for HVAC installation and maintenance • Ability to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short or no notice. HVAC/R Service Technician

The Thermal (HVAC) Field Technician is interested in a career path in Critical Infrastructure Data Centers and precision cooling, gaining more HVAC education and knowledge in highly specialized HVAC/refrigeration equipment & customer relationships. This position is responsible for inspecting, testing, adjusting, and balancing heating, cooling, and ventilating systems in commercial and industrial buildings as it relates to data centers. WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING • Use a working operational understanding of HVAC systems including split systems, DX systems, chilled water, glycol, controls, etc. • Perform standard Preventative Maintenance duties on all HVAC equipment efficiently and without requiring supervision. • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, changing out compressors, failed parts, etc. on all A/C equipment. • Solder, braze refrigerant lines, water lines, etc. • Communicate daily with dispatcher reporting job by job information about equipment ID, estimated time to complete job, labor hours and parts used. • Read and interpret schematics and control circuits. • Perform start up services on basic HVAC equipment. Answers installing contractor’s technical questions. • Interface with the customer on a professional basis and present Company in a positive light. • Properly complete required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner including work orders, startup reports, warranty reports & part orders. • Answer Technical questions and assist in training of HVAC Assistant Field Technicians. • Properly handle refrigerant, reclaim machine, vacuum pump, and other essential tools. • Satisfactory complete HVAC Training classes as required. • Work in a safe manner. Follows industry standard safety practices including knowledge of MSDS, tool safety, equipment safety and ladder safety guidelines. • Properly operate and maintain Company vehicle. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY • One-year HVAC/R certificate from a college or trade school • EPA Certification • At least 1 year of recent residential or commercial HVAC/R service experience; Exposure to critical environment cooling is preferred • Able to work independently on service calls • Recent experience using a vacuum pump, micron gauge and a refrigerant reclaim machine • Valid driver’s license to drive to customer sites in Company provided vehicle • Excellent customer service skills • Available to perform scheduled on-call & overtime duties • Prior safety training; OSHA 10 preferred • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred COMPETENCIES YOU SHOULD HAVE • Job Knowledge • Product Expertise • Communication • Customer Service • Quality • Technical Skills The pay range is $31.25/hr.- $35.00/hr. or higher based on relevant commercial HVAC/R service experience plus bonus, paid time off, work truck, laptop and iPhone.
