About the Role: Racine Unified School District is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to join our Maintenance Department. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and evaluation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems across our district facilities. This includes working with equipment such as unit ventilators, air handlers, furnaces, steam traps, and exhaust systems. You will also handle the installation and rebuilding of compressors and various pumps, as well as the calibration and setup of pneumatic and electronic climate control systems. Key Responsibilities: • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment. • Troubleshoot and repair all phases of boiler operations, including controls, gas and safety valves, brickwork, piping, and combustion analysis. • Install, repair, calibrate, and set up pneumatic and electronic climate control systems. • Operate and maintain district buildings as directed. • Perform other duties as assigned by the HVAC Foreman or Maintenance Director. Qualifications: Required: • Journeyman certification and/or Associate Degree with at least 5 years of experience in HVAC service, pipefitting, or refrigeration. • Valid Wisconsin driver's license. • State Certified Refrigerant Handler's License. • Ability to work independently or as part of a team. • Excellent attendance record. • Good physical condition, with the ability to lift 75 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds occasionally, push, pull on a repetitive basis, and work in adverse weather conditions. • Ability to wear a respirator and pass an annual respirator physical exam. Preferred: • Experience with steam or hot water commercial boilers. • Experience with Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems. • Ability to operate and understand Building Automation Systems (BAS). • 5 years of full-time experience as a journeyman pipe fitter in a commercial, industrial, or institutional setting.
