Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Job Overview: QuesTec Mechanical is seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial HVAC Technician to join our team. As an HVAC Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits. PRIMARY DUTIES • Expertly installs, repairs, maintains or replaces heating, cooling systems, ventilation, refrigeration and or component parts according to requirements • Travels to job sites in service area and works closely with Dispatcher to ensure client schedule is maintained to the best of the Service Tech’s ability • Reviews work schedule daily to adhere to and optimize work hours • Follows systematic questioning techniques and troubleshooting guidelines to determine unit/equipment functionality and/or failure • Accurately communicates unit/equipment issues to manager and clients • Provides guidance and education to Service Techs I, when appropriate • Promptly and accurately completes all required paperwork daily, documenting in detail all work performed and/or installed as well as all time associated with calls/projects • Available for on-call rotation at all times • Available to service emergency calls on week days, week nights and weekends, as needed SECONDARY DUTIES • Maintains vehicle and tools weekly, keeping equipment clean and ready for work • Stays abreast of industry trends and Company-specific procedures to further OTJ knowledge • Communicates with Dispatcher to mitigate scheduling conflicts and delays • Maintains positive and proactive communication with clients • Actively seeks opportunities to enhance client systems • Provides Sales with qualified leads and alerts Sales to competitive sales efforts • Provides guidance and work direction to HVAC Service Technicians I, when appropriate • Participate in meetings, workshops, training and seminars as required • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Minimum of four years of experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and correcting a diverse array of HVAC service issues • Knowledge of commercial mechanical and electrical systems • Strong analytical skills with the ability to read and interpret diagrams, plans and manuals • Attention to detail and quality of work performed • Ability to work independently, with excellent time management skills • Good communications skills, both written and verbal • Good organizational skills REQUIREMENTS • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; Associates degree from accredited technical school in the HVAC program preferred • HVAC Journeyman’s license (preferred) • EPA certification • Well-groomed, neat appearance • Valid class D driver’s license and clean driving record • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle • Valid social security number • Observe and abide by all Company procedures and safety rules • Ability to work and interact with others in a positive manner Benefits: • 401(k) contribution of 7%, regardless of employee deferral • Paid health Insurance, no cost for you and eligible dependents • Paid dental insurance for employee • Health savings account • Paid Life insurance • Paid short term disability • Paid long term disability • Paid time off • Vision insurance • Flexible spending account • 2 weeks vacation to start If you are a skilled HVAC Technician looking for a challenging role with opportunities for growth, we encourage you to apply. Physical Requirements Technicians install, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on commercial, rooftop HVAC units. This work is often done independently. As such, Technicians must be able to safely: • Get themselves and necessary tools/equipment onto the rooftop – typically via fixed/extension ladder. • Work at heights • Load and unload tools/equipment from work van • Lifting occasionally up to 75lbs. • Lifting to shoulder and overhead occasionally up to 25 lbs. • Push/pull wheeled cart up to 150 lbs. • Climb ladder up to roof height. • Extend reach overhead in a repetitive motion. • Manual tandem lifting load up to 125 lbs Compensation This is an hourly non-exempt role. The salary range for this role and market is between $33,000 – $41,000 annually. Factors that may affect the starting salary include geography/market and the individual’s tenure, performance, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are not eligible for a bonus but do earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
