HVAC/Refrigeration Journeyman- 3 rd Shift

HVAC/Refrigeration Technician - Grade 1 (3rd Shift) What this job involves: At JLL, we are seeking a skilled HVAC/Refrigeration Technician (Grade 1) to join our 3rd shift team. In this role, you will apply advanced knowledge of HVAC systems in large facilities to investigate, diagnose, and remedy complex problems with precision and efficiency. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing diverse systems while maintaining our commitment to excellence. What your day-to-day will look like: • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic controls and equipment using proper testing equipment while following technical drawings and manuals • Install new or refurbished equipment using appropriate construction tools and techniques • Charge and start up large chiller systems with complete attention to detail and safety protocols • Diagnose and address HVAC electrical components on chillers, rooftop units, fan units, and related systems • Repair and rebuild pumps and compressors to ensure optimal performance • Recover refrigerant from systems, charge systems properly, and diagnose problems within refrigeration systems • Service and repair both residential and commercial refrigeration equipment • Work with building automation systems (BAS) to diagnose and resolve system issues • Troubleshoot and repair ice machines and kitchen equipment as needed • Support the team through your expertise and collaborative approach to problem-solving Required Qualifications: • High School diploma or GED • Completion of a 4-year apprenticeship program and/or equivalent experience • CFC certification • Comprehensive knowledge of pneumatic controls, instruments, and automatic dampers • Understanding of air flows and air balancing in large institutional settings • Knowledge of large compressor operations and pressure/temperature relationships • Proficiency with water and steam systems • Experience with air compressor functions and repairs • Ability to recover refrigerant, charge systems, and diagnose refrigeration problems • Complete set of hand tools necessary for the trade Preferred Qualifications: • Expertise with various refrigerants and their applications • Skill in silver soldering, soft soldering, and sill flos techniques • Kitchen equipment experience • Working knowledge of computer and DDC controls • Ability to diagnose and repair rooftop AC units • Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, and schematics • Understanding of federal, state, and local codes relevant to the trade • Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset At JLL, we are collectively shaping a brighter way for our clients and ourselves. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field preferred, or solid work experience. • 3–5 years of experience in sales, account management, or territory management, with demonstrated success in both customer acquisition and retention. • Proven ability to manage a territory, maintain customer relationships, and drive results across a book of business. • Prior experience selling service and maintenance agreements is strongly preferred. • Industry knowledge in grocery retail, convenience stores, refrigeration, or HVAC is a plus. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools such as Salesforce. • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. • Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. • Willingness to travel up to 35% of the time.
