Position: Electrical Maintenance Technician (Industrial Electrician) Overview This role is responsible for performing electrical and electronic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on plant equipment in accordance with established codes, specifications, and safety practices. Work is conducted under clear guidelines with a strong focus on personal and team safety. Candidates should have completed an industrial electrical maintenance program or possess at least two years of hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience. Job Responsibilities • Follow all processes and procedures associated with site safety programs and report any deviations. • Interpret electrical schematics and blueprints for proper installation and maintenance of electrical systems. • Conduct routine inspections and checks of electrical systems. • Adhere to the National Electric Code (NEC) and other applicable industry standards. • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes. • Connect wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and other components. • Perform bench repairs on electrical equipment. • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine wiring or equipment locations and ensure compliance with building and safety codes. • Document work performed according to current ISO or internal quality standards. • Install and test electrical systems, verifying continuity and compatibility using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes. • Verify code compliance through proper installation methods. • Follow work instructions, maps, manuals, and labels to ensure safe and accurate task completion. • Use power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing instruments such as ammeters, test lamps, and oscilloscopes. • Inspect systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for repair or adjustment. • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment using test equipment and hand tools to determine root cause and correct issues. • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or elevated surfaces to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring and equipment. • Advise leadership when continued operation of equipment may pose safety risks. • Maintain a valid electrician’s license or identification card as required by regulatory standards. Qualifications Education & Experience • Associate degree in Industrial Electrical Maintenance OR at least two (2) years of related industrial electrical experience (heavy industrial work preferred). • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics. • Demonstrated industrial electrical knowledge, verified through testing of AC/DC theory, schematic/blueprint interpretation, simple circuits, and industrial motor controls, including motor starts, overload protection, and ladder diagrams. • Basic computer skills required. • Proficiency with essential electrical principles, tool usage, and ability to pass a hands-on skills assessment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, function, repair, and maintenance. • Understanding of design techniques, tools, and principles needed to produce technical plans, blueprints, and models. • Skills in troubleshooting, repair, active listening, critical thinking, judgment and decision making, equipment installation, active learning, complex problem solving, and maintenance. • Abilities include problem sensitivity, deductive and inductive reasoning, near vision, oral comprehension, color vision, hand-arm steadiness, finger dexterity, information ordering, and manual dexterity. • Ability to gather information, identify issues, make decisions, solve problems, inspect equipment/structures, and evaluate compliance with standards. • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize tasks effectively. Physical Requirements • Must be able to climb, lift up to 50 lbs., balance, walk, stand, stoop, and handle tools and materials. • Requires frequent use of arms, legs, and full-body movement. • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
