Job Description Seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to support projects ranging from small studies to multi-million dollar turn-key supply. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented, organized, able to communicate to all levels of the organization and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Develop electrical specifications for part/equipment selection (50-60% of the role). • Program PLCs, primarily Allen Bradley PLCs but experience with other PLCs is also acceptable (40-50% of the role). • Write code using Rockwell or other PLC systems. • Perform HMI programming using FactoryTalk or other HMI software. • Design control systems and specify instrumentation controls. • Work on automation and controls engineering projects. • Collaborate with team members and communicate project details effectively. This Electrical Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and sustaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. Open to internal and external candidates Job Summary As a valuable member of our team, you would directly impact the ability to conduct ground testing of airframes, engines, or other aerospace systems by executing system engineering responsibilities developing requirements, overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, and arc flash considerations of major electrical equipment and associated control systems to ensure test readiness to meet customers' requirements. These systems could be large electric motors that drive huge air compressors, hydraulic pumps, electrical switchgear, over-current protection, transformers, PLCs, relays, and/or solid state variable frequency drive systems, plant and/or process controls systems that are needed to reliably provide test conditions to the test facilities. Job Duties: Some of the specific duties of an electrical systems and controls engineer include (this is NOT an exhaustive list): • Developing system and subsystem requirements • Systems configuration design including conceptual and detailed sketches and layouts, specifications and design calculations • Instrumentation and Control System design, development, maintenance, and/or operations support • Respond when systems malfunction, troubleshooting and directing corrective maintenance activities (or calling in the appropriate systems engineer(s) for additional support) ensuring a timely return to service • System verification and validation in preparation for test execution • Update and maintain system documentation for systems of responsibility • Work with multiple organizations/stakeholders such as design engineering, fabrication shops, DoD client, and other contractors • Review design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors and prepare comments and recommendations • Develop with Asset Health Assurance personnel advanced maintenance plans • Conduct and write up system safety hazard analyses and write clear work instructions for operation and maintenance • Assess and communicate risk to stakeholders • Develop estimates for improvement projects • Work with planners, schedulers, and craft supervisors to safely plan and execute projects including maintenance work, upgrades, and test projects • Assist craft personnel with troubleshooting and oversee their work; provide technical leadership and guidance • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy. • Perform other related duties as required.
