Facilities: Electrician

JOB DUTIES: POSITION: A full-time university staff position is available in Facilities beginning August 30, 2025. The working title for this assignment is Electrician. This is an expected-to-continue assignment which requires a six-month probationary period. The expected hourly hiring salary will be based on qualifications and experience. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a current WI Master Electrician License; Thorough knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of the electrician trade; Knowledge and experience with the National Electrical Code, Wisconsin State Electrical Code, & Wisconsin DSPS building codes; Significant knowledge and experience complying with all safety laws and regulations(e.g. Electrical Arc Flash Compliance, Lock-out Tag-out, OSHA, & WI DSPS; Knowledge of major types of electrical installations, common and unusual breakdowns and standard repair procedures; Ability to read the English language sufficiently to read and understand construction drawings; Ability to communicate affectively; Ability to enter, exit, and perform duties in confined spaces; Ability to perform duties within temperature ranges so as to do necessary outdoor maintenance in summer and winter; Ability to work in special clothing and common protective safety attire; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment; Ability to perform physical labor including heavy lifting (50 pounds), bending, stooping, twisting and other motions; ability to work from step ladders, extension ladders, and genie lifts; Ability to use knowledge and experience to independently provide recommended scope for projects and repairs; Current valid WI drivers license; Adherence to rules and regulations of educational institutions. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with safety and maintenance of medium voltage power distribution systems is desirable; including knowledge and experience to identify, inspect and perform maintenance to medium voltage cable connections; perform maintenance on the switchgear back up batteries; properly use all recommended personnel protective equipment.
