Job Summary Looking for an electrician's helper or experienced journeyman electrician. Small electrical company in Bristol VA/ TN looking to grow and take on more projects and possibilities. Two categories of employees we are looking to hire: 1 - Electrician's helper. Entry level position, looking for employee with a minimum of 6 months to 1 year of hands-on steady electrical work or equivalent. I.E. HVAC work, general construction, or electrical trade school graduate. Must be comfortable with construction, and worked with wiring previously. This position starts at $15/hr. 2 - Journeyman electrician. Looking for someone with enough experience to run their own van, and feel confident working on jobs alone. Minimum of 3 years of full-time electrical work required to apply for this position. Must have all required hand tools, basic drills, and tool bag. An actual journeyman's license is not required to apply for this position. Pay rate will match experience level and can be discussed further. JOB PURPOSE: This position is responsible for all electrical repair, installation and troubleshooting of equipment and facilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Installs, maintains, trouble shoots, tests, and repairs plant components, some of which include: power systems, electrical equipment, communication systems, motors, hardware, fire system devices, building controls, electrical wiring, resistive heaters, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, security alarms systems, IT cable, variable frequency drives, along with other electrical and mechanical machinery, plant and utility systems • Carries out emergency, planned and preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment and other apparatus as requested. Responds to emergency calls that are a result of mechanical/electrical failure both during and after regular hours of work; • Ensures that all work is done according to standard practices, state electrical code, and provincial and local building codes; • Makes recommendations and determines quantities and potential work time for proposed upgrades, installations, repairs and projects which assists with proper costing and planning; • Liaisons with other consultants, contractors, inspectors, suppliers, and other departments on maintenance and project work as required; • Accurately completes and documents work orders and time sheets prior to submission to supervisor. Provides written reports on any inspections and/or tests and makes recommendations to improve performance; • Maintains clean and orderly conditions in all working areas, including shop, vehicle and toolboxes; • Ensures duties are performed in a fiscally responsible manner while observing all safety and environmental policies and regulations (ISO compliant) • Maintain regular and predictable attendance OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • “III” position has ability to independently perform skilled and professional electronic work • Ability to work with interdisciplinary maintenance skills to complete projects • Performs preventive maintenance on a perpetual schedule QUALIFICATIONS: Experience, Competencies and Education • “III” position requires ten (10) years electrical experience • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted to meet the minimum requirements • High school education with vocational training • Computer literate • Display technical inquisitive aptitude PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB: This position requires that the employee be able to perform the following physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation: • Ability and dexterity in use of various manual and powered hand tools; • Must be able to use various electrical test equipment such as ammeter, voltmeters, and ohm meter; • Work involved with high voltage power systems, pole mounted, ceiling and moving equipment; • Occasional periods of high levels of physical exertion are needed. Master Electrician Manager

GovFirst is seeking to hire a Master Electrician Manager to lead and supervise electrical teams across Virginia in locations including Bristol, Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Lynchburg, Northern Virginia, Richmond, Salem, and Staunton within the Transportation Operations Division. This role will oversee construction and installation projects, ensuring that electrical systems are maintained, repaired, and installed according to safety standards, codes, and operational requirements. Requirements • Valid Master Electrician license. • Completion of OSHA 30-hour training course. • Knowledge of local and state electrical and building codes. • Completion of a four- or five-year electrical construction and maintenance apprenticeship program approved by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry, or four to five years of industrial electrical experience. • Ability to supervise or work independently in complex electrical systems. • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing faults and implementing corrective actions. • Experience in roadway lighting systems, substations, and motor/pump controls. • Ability to perform inspections, review plans, and adhere to safety and traffic control requirements. • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, for coordinating with contractors, VDOT staff, and stakeholders.
