Responsibilities: POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES: Electrical Technician engages in the safe operation of controls and emergency shut down functions for compressor facilities. Special focus will be placed on: • Maintains a safe operating environment • Troubleshoots and repairs natural gas engines, electric motors, auxiliary equipment and gas compressor • Starts and shuts down gas compressor unit • Tests Emergency Shut Down (ESD) systems • Performs basic operational tasks such as blowing drips, emptying tanks, refilling fluids and checking tank levels • Operates and performs maintenance on chillers, Dehys and flare systems • Adjusts and repairs pressure regulation systems • Operates / maintains manual and automated controls on compressor units to optimize throughput • Participates in on-call rotation schedule. • Provides technical support to the compressor personnel while maintenance functions are being performed on compressor equipment • Installs and calibrates end devices such as pressure transducers, speed controllers, RTU's, loop controllers and valve positioners • Installs and maintains, flame detectors and gas detectors emissions monitoring equipment, communications devices and connections • Maintains VFD medium, low voltage drivers, and reduced voltage starters • Troubleshoots ethernet networks related to compressor control panels • Installs, tests, troubleshoots and maintains emergency shut down equipment, PLC's and relief valves associated with compressor stations • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor Qualifications: POSITION REQUIREMENTS: • Associates degree in electronics, vocational certification in electrical or electronics discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience • At least three years of related experience in the natural gas industry preferred • State electrical license or certification preferred • Valid driver's license • Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office • Basic electrical, controls, process and mechanical aptitude • Basic gas quality processing and conditioning skills preferred • Familiarity with National Electric Code preferred • Working knowledge of PLC's and motor controls • Working knowledge of basic industrial communication protocols, i.e. modbus TCP, modbus RTU, and HART Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: • Must be able to move or traverse from one location on the job site to another. This includes the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, frequently positioning oneself (e.g., to stoop, kneel, or squat) to perform tasks, and occasionally ascend/descend (e.g., ladders or uneven terrain) • Ability to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, and assess driving operations effectively (either naturally or with corrective lenses). • Ability to operate a 4X4 vehicle. • Must be able to repetitively move or position feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, and back. Constantly operates, uses, and positions hands and fingers in performance of work • Must be able to work atop elevated surfaces and traverse various heights • Lifts or carries 70 lbs. or more, which falls into the "heavy" category (over 50 pounds). • Frequently pushes and pulls with a maximum force of 150 ft./lbs. • Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions and is exposed to varying environmental conditions, including well site conditions.
