Factory Framing Carpenter

Van Metre has a Factory Framing Carpenter position available in Winchester, VA! Pay and Benefits: $22-26/hour. Pay will be based on experience and qualifications. This is a full time (40 hours/week), permanent position eligible for full benefits. (See below for detailed benefits information.) About the Role: As Factory Framing Carpenter, you will be essential to our manufacturing operations, focusing on assembling and framing pre-built housing components. This role involves producing factory framing designs by assembling floor trusses and wall panels into "cartridges," which may include roof cartridges using pre-built roof trusses. The carpenter will follow detailed build plans from our architecture and design team, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications. Essential Responsibilities: • Assemble and frame pre-built housing components into cartridge designs. • Follow detailed build plans provided by the architecture and design team to ensure precision and adherence to specifications. • Verify measurements, follow build step instructions, and identify creative solutions when framing materials are not exact. • Collaborate effectively with other framing station carpenters, fostering trust and identifying opportunities for process efficiencies. • Provide feedback and suggestions for improving assembly processes, addressing bottlenecks, and enhancing manufacturing techniques. • Meet or exceed production goals set for the day or week, ensuring that the required capacity of board feet and/or cartridges is achieved. • Prioritize safety by understanding and adhering to all safety guidelines and requirements set by the factory framing manager and safety manager. Essential Competencies: • Positive attitude • Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization. • Strong interpersonal skills • Oral and written communication skills • Professional appearance and behavior Preferred Qualifications: • Education/Credentials: High school diploma or its equivalent preferred • 1-2 years of carpentry experience preferred or a willingness to upskill into this position • Ability to accurately identify products, read tape measurer, and use air/power tools preferred • Ability to read design plans preferred • Forklift, Machinery training preferred • Proven ability to apply math, writing, and communication skills • Bilingual Speaking (Spanish/English) preferred Physical Demands of Job: • Requires vision, speech and hearing • Requires ability to lift up to 75 pounds • Requires ability to work one duty for eight to ten hours Environmental Factors: Outside weather conditions, construction site and manufacturing facility exposure.
