Summary Carpenters work with a variety of tools and measuring devices to complete a wide span of work tasks. They work with light-gauge and load-bearing steel framing for interior partitions, exterior framing, and curtain wall construction. They are also responsible for installing drywall, sheathing, acoustical ceiling tile systems, wood blocking, doors, frames, hardware and assembling various finishes components on a construction project. Duties and Responsibilities • Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each project or job site. • Use construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks. • Ensure regulated and proper headgear, ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses and clothing are worn. • Follow blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients. • Install structures and fixtures. • Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials. • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes. • Help erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes. • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures. • Instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers. • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner. • Clean and clear debris, extra materials, and dirt/dust from jobsites. Job Requirements • Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Must be able to be flexible with work schedule. • High School Diploma or equivalent (experience may be substituted for education). • Reliable Transportation – go to sites in Metro DC as assigned/needed (including Maryland and Virginia). • Able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments effectively. • Interface effectively, ethically and professionally with Pillar team members and subcontractors. • Communicate effectively in English (verbal and written). • Fluency in Spanish preferred. • Possess strong desire, willingness and ability to learn new tasks. • Must report to work on time as required.
