Finish Carpenter

Description: Our remodeling company is looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our team. We specialize in kitchens and bathrooms, so we need a Carpenter with cabinetry and vanity experience who loves thinking outside the box and wowing clients. The ideal candidate will have his or her own truck and tools and be willing to travel within a 30-mile radius. Most work is on-site, though we have a facility for pre-fab carpentry when the job calls for it. For the right applicant, we will consider a promotion to Lead Carpenter/Foreman in six months. Example Job Duties: • Interpret client requests and provide mock-ups for clients to approve prior to commencing work • Build cabinets, vanities, tub and shower surrounds and other projects based on demand • Frame room additions as needed for client • Select and evaluate materials for defects • Install cabinets, counters and molding • Install interior / exterior doors and windows • Install interior finishing (e.g., closet rods, etc). • Follow all code requirements for kitchens and baths in remodeling projects • Assist in other tasks including removal of existing materials on-site, coordination/support of plumbers and electricians as needed, flooring work (e.g., laying subfloors and vinyl plank), assistance framing trusses (as needed), and other remodeling tasks as needed. Desired Skills & Experience: • 1+ years’ experience in finish carpentry • Additional 1+ years’ experience in rough carpentry preferred • Extensive knowledge of power tools, including skill saw, miter saw and jigsaw • Possession of basic hand tools and reliable transportation to job sites • Willingness to work overtime when necessary to deliver the project on time • Capable of climbing on ladders and carrying at least 80 pounds • Knowledge of lumber grades and countertop materials Company DescriptionWe are a full-service construction company in the Willamette Valley focusing on both rehabbing and new construction for multifamily properties.

OSH, a Joint Commission and CMS certified public psychiatric hospital, provides psychiatric treatment services to persons committed by the Oregon courts as part of the state mental health system. The Oregon State Hospital is the largest division of OHA with 750 beds and approximately 3,000 positions across hospital operations. The Vocational Services Department provides a comprehensive range of vocational services to the inpatient and residential population of Oregon State Hospital. Hospital based vocational services include Greenhouse, Benchwork, Landscaping Patient Pay and Supported Employment settings. This program focuses on stabilizing mental illness and assisting patients in achieving their highest level of function in work performance and components. Patients will acquire this through the acquisition of carpentry skills with the leadership of a knowledgeable carpenter who can educate and encourage patient success. What You Will Do The Carpentry Instructor provides support to patients to ensure a range of services are available to address the vocational needs from work readiness skill and prevocational activities to sheltered work opportunities, work hardening, job search, and work support activities leading to competitive employment. This position is responsible for the daily supervision and education of carpentry skills to patients who have been deemed appropriate for the wood shop programming. This position is also responsible for the overall safe instruction of the tools and techniques that can be applied to equivalent positions in the community, thus the need to remain up-to-date on industry standards. Carpentry Instruction Teach and instruct the patients in carpentry skills through the following: • Consult, design, construct and finish custom fixtures, such as Adirondack Chairs, Tables, and other wood products. • Repair any product that may be returned because of defect within customer service guidelines. • Use portable and stationary power tool, such as power saws, drills, joiners, sanders, planers and routers. • Teach and instruct patients in the proper use and care of these products while using personal protection equipment and signage and observing all safety rules. Patient Services • Maintain records of patient progress in accordance with Oregon State Hospital, assigned program and vocational standards.
