Job Description: RCHA is seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance and Construction Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical systems, mechanical repairs, and general maintenance practices. This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards. This position will also mentor and train workforce development students on the job. Job Summary: • Perform a wide variety of general and semi-skilled minor maintenance activities (e.g., carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, etc.) for the purpose of completing unit turnovers within established time frames. • Perform both major and minor repair work such as repairing locks and installing window blinds and grab bars. Replace broken windows and door locks. Ensure that control panels and electric locks are in proper working condition. Replace smoke detector batteries. Repair appliances. • Coordinate contract vendor access to building and units for unit repairs and contracted building systems maintenance. • Complete all reports on weekly, quarterly, biannual and annual tasks assigned. • Prepare written materials (e.g., repair status, activity logs, inventory records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information. Complete and submit timesheets by deadlines. • Assist with construction or remodeling projects • Work with Senior Maintenance Tech on projects throughout the portfolio • Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. • Serve as the on-call person periodically, rotating with other maintenance staff for emergencies that may arise. • Teach the proper use and handling of all hand tools, power tools, and equipment. • Mentor workforce development participants through teaching maintenance and construction skills. • Represent RCHA in all interactions with partners and the community, supporting the agency mission. • Other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications: • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and electrical systems • Experience using hand and electrical tools • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. • Generally, the job requires 15% sitting, 45% walking, and 40% standing. Must be able to climb ladders up to 30 feet. Must be able to lift equipment, etc. over 50 pounds. • Working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget. • Valid driver’s license permitting operation of a vehicle in the State of West Virginia with a satisfactory driving record. • The position is responsible for providing their own general tools to complete the required work. Any required materials will be provided.
