Job Summary This is a maintenance repair worker position that involves leading work teams, providing training, and performing semi-skilled and skilled maintenance repair work. • Perform electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and grounds keeping tasks including installing fixtures, repairing fans, clocks, cookers, and electrical components of heating and cooling systems. • Repair doors, locks, cabinets, chairs, desks, floors, walls, windows, stairways, and partitions using carpentry skills. • Repair plumbing equipment such as water and steam lines, sewer pipes, trap fittings, plumbing fixtures, pumps, regulators, valves, faucets, toilets, sinks, bathtubs, and heating radiators. Responsibilities • Inspect buildings and equipment for needed repairs or replacements on a continuous basis. • Perform systematic and routine preventive maintenance of assigned areas. • Operate machine tools and welding equipment in making repairs to metal parts and equipment. • Ensure secure maintenance of tools and complete tool counts and inventories. • Assist in related job crafts as required. • Control/restrict inmate movement to assigned areas. • Conduct searches of inmates when a breach of security is suspected. • Respond to emergencies. • Attend meetings and trainings. • Participate on institution committees. Formal education in arithmetic and reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary are required. 12 months of training or experience in maintenance repair are also required. A valid commercial driver's license is also required if motor equipment is used.
