Overview: A Carpenter Journeyman performs basic installation of materials on a construction sites. Responsibilities: Carpenter Journeyman typical responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to the following: • Install items related to job site safety and functionality including safety rails, toe boards, ramps, temporary walls, temporary enclosures, elevator protection, decks for construction trailers • Build planning tables • Hang safety signs • Cover holes or open areas that are safety hazards • Mount Smartboards and TVs in job site trailers • Hang shelving in job site trailers • Reporting all safety incidents & injuries to Foreperson and Safety Leader • Any scope of work outside of they above listed, shall be planned, documented, and approved by Foreperson, Safety & Management Qualifications: EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION • High school diploma or GED • 2+ years of carpentry experience • Or equivalent combination of education and experience • OSHA 10 hour certified recommended, (Next 150 Construction will assist with obtaining this certification if necessary) • Proof of certificates, degrees, etc. upon hire KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures • Willingness to work in high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations • Ability to work in a team environment Next 150 Construction Services has an unwavering focus on safety, the environment and caring about everyone involved in our work. This role will install cabinets, shelving, drywall and insulation while also adding fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks and hinges. Other duties will include cutting and measuring materials according to a client's requirements. A successful Carpenter is hardworking, reliable, and be detail oriented. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements. • Take measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed. • Cutting, shaping, and smoothing of lumber and other material according to measurements. • Install of windows and doors. • Assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items. • Build scaffolding and other construction structures. • Finishing trim and rough carpentry. • Touching up and punch-listing all trim and drywall items, as well as fix door and hardware issues. • Install exterior façade of building. • Other duties as needed. Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED. • Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program preferred. • Proven experience as a carpenter. • Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials. • Punchlist experience. • Completion of OSHA 10 or 30, or ability to complete. • Possess competent knowledge of the use and care of tools and equipment used in carpentry, • Positive Attitude • Initiative • Flexibility • Multi-Tasking • Sense of Urgency • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. • Ability to bend, climb, squat, reach, and kneel. • Willingness to do non-trade specific items. • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction. • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, tape measures etc.). • Ability to read technical documents and drawings. • A willingness to always follow safety guidelines. • Good communication and organizational skills.
