Specific Duties and Responsibilities • Performs general carpentry work, including but not limited to constructing walls; installing drywall and trim; repairing doors and hardware; constructing cabinets, shelves and other custom fixtures; forming and pouring concrete; installing and repairing ceiling tile; installing carpet and floor tile; and installing countertops, etc. • Assembles scaffolding to a height of 30 feet. • Completes tasks in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, standards and schedules. • Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including work orders, diagrams, specifications, daily logs, etc. • Operates a variety of equipment such as a two-way radio, telephone, general carpentry tools, power tools, hand tools, vehicle, etc. • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, District administrators and staff, students, contractors, etc. ADDITIONAL DUTIES • Hangs bulletin boards and chalkboards. • Paints or stains cabinets, shelves, etc., as necessary. • Installs new wood and metal doors and frames. • Installs locksets, panic devices, door closers and door light kits. • Performs related duties as required. Essential Functions Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including a two-way radio, vehicle, hand and power tools, etc. Must be able to exert up to twenty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of sedentary work; work involves driving, walking or standing for periods of time, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, climbing, etc., and performing manual tasks. Training and Education Requires a high school diploma supplemented by three to five years of experience in carpentry or construction, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
