Highly skilled carpenter/handyman needed. We are primarily looking for experts in siding installation & repair, fence repair, deck restoration, small roof patchwork, gutter refurbishing to name a few common tasks. We are not looking to hire employees, we need contractors that own their own business and would like to add to their current work load. We need you to handle various repair orders in tenant occupied homes. The private owner occupied home is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Many of the single family homes in your neighborhood are no longer owned by individual families, they have been purchased by private investors or investment companies and are being rented now. This change has created problems for many small businesses, as there are fewer private, retail repair job opportunities, since tenants do not control any repair issues. Most real estate investment companies own properties over many states and regions. They want to keep costs and quality of work and the resident experience uniform across the region, so they hired our company to help them. We are committed to keep their properties in good shape and handle their repairs, we have been doing this since 2017. In order to do this, we develop business partnerships with skilled professionals like yourself in specific locations to provide the swift, personalized response that is required. We communicate with you using a specially designed app through which we can send the necessary details of each repair order. We need you to be responsible, professional, and reliable. Our system is unique. It takes a special “A” type personality to fill this role successfully. We have successful long term relationships currently with several excellent Pros, we need to add a select few more. To become one of our Pros you must be able to: • Diagnose and troubleshoot reported issues. • Perform emergency repairs and respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner. Maintain secure internet connectivity to maximize use • Maintain accurate records and photos of all work performed and parts used. • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing using a phone, laptop, or other method with our team members. • Work both independently on jobsites and as part of a team (our team is the “back office” and does work for your benefit on all work orders). • Remain on call and available when scheduled We will customize your profile in our system to maximize your usefulness. We design our program to only assign the repair orders you have pre selected. This guarantees you will be sent only the kind of work you want to do. You will also control your travel distance and work schedule. The repair orders we send you are yours alone, you are not bidding against competition. You need to have at least 2 years of experience. A background check is required, and we need to have proof of auto insurance in your name, along with general liability insurance. Worker’s Compensation insurance or a qualified exemption is also needed. Prior experience using app based electronic communication is a big plus. Any trade licenses you may hold are also highly desirable. Founded in 1951, Maner Building Supply distributes an expansive line of specialty building products, such as engineered lumber, wallboard, roofing, siding, decking, installed fencing, custom glass, windows, doors and other materials, to professional homebuilders, contractors and commercial builders from its locations in Augusta, Georgia and Aiken and Charleston, South Carolina. A Brief Overview The Carpenter is responsible for performing carpentry tasks. This person will perform a variety of tasks in an assigned area as they construct, repair, restore, and install structural woodwork and related materials. What you will do • Adhere to established safety rules and regulations by passing safety test and following all safety procedures; maintain a safe and clean environment. • Communicate well with crew and foreman; follow directions provided by lead carpenter or foreman; and prioritize daily duties. • Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required. • Provide required personal tools. • Measure, calculate, and mark cutting lines on materials accurately, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge; shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw. • Square walls and install sheathing correctly. • Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue; install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, and trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand and power tools. • Select and supply crew, carpenters and leads with materials. • Use proper nailing procedures for all applications. • Use hand, pneumatic and other power tools to measure, cut and install sheathing for wall and roof, and all wall components. • Finish, inspect and ensure work complies with quality standards and expectations. • Keep jobsite clean and safe. • Comply with Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance. Experience Qualifications • less than 1 year of carpentry experience in the commercial and/or residential sectors required. Skills and Abilities • Knowledgeable of the standard methods, practices, principles, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry trade and its associated occupational hazards. • Knowledgeable of the qualities, adaptability, and use of various woods and materials. • Basic knowledge of state codes and procedures including energy codes. Must have good work ethic, attitude and be reliable.
