Job Summary The College of Music at CU Boulder encourages applications for a 1% on-call Carpenter/Stagehand ! This role assists in building scenery for College of Music productions and assists with maintenance of the scenic shops and Music Theatre, to create a clean, safe environment for these activities. The Carpenter/Stagehand will also be asked to assume a crew assignment for the shows. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be • Build scenery. • Crew productions. • Maintenance and cleaning. What You Should Know 1% On-call for the College of Music in the scene shop and as crew for College of Music productions. Can exceed full time some weeks. 0 hours others. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary because working some weekends and evenings will be required. What We Can Offer Hourly salary range: $19-$21.50/hr. What We Require • A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years. What You Will Need • Competent at construction of scenery and stage properties with standard shop tools such as saws, drills, drivers, staplers, etc. using established scenic carpentry norms. • Can read theatrical line drawings. • Able to work independently on varied projects in the shop. • Helps maintain a clean and safe working environment. • Able to operate as a deck hand or other crew assignment during technical rehearsals and performances of musicals and operas. • Ability to work well as a team member for fast paced production environments. What We Would Like You to Have • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre with technical emphasis. • At least 2 years of experience in scenic construction. Can be in professional or academic settings, with some festival or intensive summer experience preferred. • Welding experience is preferred. Finish Carpenter

Position Overview The Finish Carpenter position is an artisan with the skill and experience necessary to perform a variety of general construction activities. This position must be able to complete exceptional quality of work in an efficient manner with minimal supervision. Essential Functions • Performs tasks on all areas and aspects of construction projects. • Always perform quality work and willingly rework projects as requested. • Completes projects on budget, on schedule, while ensuring customer satisfaction. • Coordinate with Project Manager for material needed to complete work. • Must be able to lay-out, measure, plan and execute work activities. • Must have good organizational skills and daily planning habits. • Communicates daily with Lead Carpenter and/or Project Manager with regards to daily accomplishments and next days’ assignments. • Other duties as assigned. Skills & Knowledge • Proficient in the use of a variety of power and hand tools. • Possesses a high level of professionalism in interacting with clients. • Ability to track time and work activities through an electronic tracking system. • Ability to use Smart Sheets for schedules and task list updating. • Ability to read blueprints. • Ability to follow and practice safety protocols. • Ability to hang and case doors; install base, cabinets, crown, and floating shelves. • High attention to detail Education & Experience • 5+ years of Finish carpentry experience required • Experience in framing, finishing, and trim for interior and exterior trim on high end homes • Able to read blueprints. Work Environment • Must be able to operate carpentry tools. • Must have a positive can-do attitude. • Must be able to follow and practice safety protocols. • Must be punctual and work efficiently Physical Demand • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk and communicate, use hands/fingers, and reach with arms. The position requires the ability to bend, and lift to 50 lbs.
