Position Expectations: Soltage is looking for an experienced Energy Storage Operations Associate with a strong proven background in the operations and maintenance processes for small to medium size utility scale solar projects, energy storage systems (ESS) and photovoltaic plus energy storage systems (PV+BESS). The Energy Storage Operations Associate will be integral to the development of Soltage’s pipeline of standalone energy storage and solar-plus-storage projects. The Energy Storage Operations Associate ensures that the Company’s ESS asset fleet is functioning efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all offtake, utility and regulatory requirements. The associate will manage charging and dispatch strategies, monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage third parties performing routine maintenance to optimize system performance and reliability. Specific Job Functions: Operation (NOC Operations): • Monitor energy storage systems in real-time using SCADA and other monitoring tools / platforms. (Includes overnight / on-call monitoring). • Ensure the ESS operates within defined parameters and standards. • Manage the charging and discharging cycles to optimize energy usage and cost savings. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: • Perform routine inspections and manage maintenance on energy storage equipment. • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to the ESS and PV systems. • Coordinate with technical support and vendors for advanced troubleshooting and repairs. Data Analysis and Reporting: • Analyze utility peak load data and dispatch algorithms to ensure maximum revenue generation and optimal system dispatch. • Analyze system performance data to identify trends and potential issues. • Support the Opps team with the analysis of solar production data. • Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities. • Provide recommendations for system improvements based on data analysis. Safety and Compliance: • Ensure all operations comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements. • Conduct safety inspections and maintain safety protocols. • Respond to emergency situations and implement emergency procedures as necessary. Collaboration and Communication: • Work closely with the VP of Operations and other team members to ensure efficient operations. • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including utility companies, clients, and regulatory bodies. • Participate in training programs to stay updated on the latest technologies and industry best practices. Experience and Education Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. • Certification in energy storage systems or a related discipline is preferred. • 2+ years of experience in operating and maintaining energy storage systems or related equipment. • Strong understanding of electrical systems, battery technologies, and energy management principles. • Familiarity with medium and low voltage electrical systems and components and a knowledge of SCADA systems and other monitoring tools. • Working knowledge and ability to read electrical design, construction drawings and specifications. • Experience with writing proposals, reports and comfortable presenting to, and interacting with consultants, authorities with jurisdiction, and regulatory agencies. • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
