Solar Project Developer

About Delaware River Solar (DRS): Delaware River Solar is New York’s leading greenfield community solar developer. Our team is focused on building clean, local energy projects while navigating the complex regulatory and municipal landscape that makes development possible. About the Role: We’re looking for a Project Developer to support our permitting and municipal coordination efforts for multiple solar projects across New York. This role is responsible for managing projects from site control through the permitting process — ensuring all approvals are in place for a successful project sale or construction start. This is a hands-on, task-driven role that requires attention to detail, persistence, and clear communication with local officials, engineers, attorneys, and internal stakeholders. You’ll attend planning board meetings, prepare submittals, and keep projects on track with local and state regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities: • Review and apply federal, state, and municipal regulations to project permitting and submission materials. • Coordinate project deliverables with attorneys and engineers, especially around SEQRA, site plans, and permitting steps. • Represent projects at town board meetings; answer questions from town officials, attorneys, and engineers. • Track post-approval filings and compliance documents (e.g., SUP conditions, subdivision approvals, variances). • Manage timelines, documentation, and third-party coordination to keep projects moving toward sale or construction readiness. Requirements: • 1–3 years of experience in permitting, planning, development, real estate, or a related industry. • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn about) solar project development and municipal permitting. • Familiarity with NYSERDA, Special Use Permits, Site Plans, Subdivisions, Variances, and SEQR is a strong plus. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools (Smartsheet or similar). • Excellent organization and task management skills. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (in-state travel to meetings is required). • Comfortable speaking in public settings and presenting to local boards.
