Position Summary: We are actively seeking to add a masonry expert to our growing team. Our ideal candidate is experienced in working with a variety of masonry-related materials, tools and techniques, and is eager to surpass customers' expectations for their custom sign projects with your talent. In this role, you will use a variety of materials, tools and processes to build new structures as well as provide maintenance and/or restoration for existing masonry structures. This includes polishing and installing blocks of stone, mixing cement and mortar, and cutting/shaping materials. This role also involves applying general technical skills to day-to-day projects and reading and interpreting blueprints and other project design documents. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Interpret and follow blueprints, drawings, and construction plans to ensure the project specifications are met. • Prepare surfaces for construction, including cleaning and leveling, before beginning masonry work. • Mix mortar and concrete to the right consistency for various masonry tasks, ensuring proper bonding and stability. • Cut, shape, and set stone, brick, and concrete materials to build walls, arches, and other structures according to the design. • Install load-bearing and decorative masonry elements, such as brick facades, stone walls and pillars. • Ensure high-quality workmanship and that masonry work meets safety standards and codes. • Inspect and maintain masonry tools and equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order. • Address and resolve issues that arise during the masonry process, including material shortages or design challenges. • Work closely with other construction professionals, such as contractors, architects, and engineers, to ensure the project progresses smoothly. • Communicate with team members to discuss project progress, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction with the finished work. • Enforce safety protocols on the job site to prevent accidents and injuries, ensuring workers wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Proficient in bricklaying, stone cutting, and using masonry tools and machinery. • Precision in measuring and cutting materials, ensuring quality workmanship. • Recent masonry experience is essential. • Solid organizational skills; able to multi-task and complete requests in a timely, professional manner. • Resourceful; can devise creative solutions to problems. • Strong knowledge of construction techniques and processes. • Read and write English. • Attend monthly safety training meetings. • Masonry certifications or apprenticeships are preferred. • Familiarity with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines and construction safety standards. Physical Requirements: • Lifting heavy materials (bricks, stones, mortar bags) up to 80 pounds. • Standing, kneeling, bending, and working in various postures for extended periods. • Use of hands and arms for extended periods of time with precision and control.
