The Brick Mason is responsible to safely, productively, and professionally install all types of CMU and brick units as designated by the contract documents as well as safely erect, dismantle and maintain all types of scaffolding systems. The mason is required to install all CMU units in accordance with best building practices to ensure a complete water-tight masonry assembly that is compliant with the contract documents. The Mason is responsible for initial layout, plumb and level construction/installation of all CMU related units; mixing of mortars and grouts as needed; assisting in stocking of building materials; erection, dismantling and maintenance of all scaffolding systems; operate associated equipment to perform daily construction activities and final wash-down of completed installations; including floors, sidewalks, roadways, steps, and curbs. This position is expected to work within a 90-mile radius of the city of Pittsburgh, and will be an employee of the Pittsburgh, PA office location. What you'll do: • Ability to safely, productively, and professionally install various types of CMU units including but not limited to 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 16" CMU as well as all brick types including proper layout, installation, and wash-down procedures. • Operate equipment as needed for daily construction activities, i.e., mixers, forklifts, telehandlers etc. • Safely erect, maintain, work, and dismantle all scaffolding systems required to perform daily construction activities. • Must be familiar with and perform the general daily maintenance of all equipment, i.e., fueling, lubrication, etc. • Must perform general daily safety inspections to all equipment prior to use. • Knowledge of general building structures and foundations. • Knowledge of elevations, grades and concrete foundation structures and installation procedures. • Knowledge of masonry drainage systems and concrete footing designs. • Responsible for daily production quantities, i.e., 8" CMU (180-200 units per day), 10" CMU (160-180 units per day), 12' CMU (140-160 units per day) Brick (400 units per day). • Operate all types of hand tools, saws, and equipment for cutting CMU units. • Maintain required production units as outlined by the project schedule. • Perform general carpentry items to assist with temporary enclosures for in climate weather work. • Assist in loading and unloading building material. • Provide input on jobsite logistics, organization, layout, equipment, and manpower utilization. • Establish and enforce a comprehensive project safety and security program as defined in the company safety program in accordance with all applicable safety codes and regulations. • Adheres to company comprehensive project safety and security programs as defined in the company safety program in accordance with all applicable safety codes and regulations. • Provides timely and cordial interaction with supporting work groups, such as Superintendent, Estimating, Project Management, Operations, Human Resources, etc. • Meet with the Safety Director and complete mandatory safety training prior to start of employment. • Additional tasks as necessary and/or assigned.
