CNC Machinist (Large Scale)

You should be a seasoned CNC Machinist that has experience machining complex components up to 78 inches in diameter. Are you looking for a unique Traveling Contract opportunity? If so, we have openings that will allow you to showcase your expertise. The right candidate is someone who has knowledge of machining very large castings on a Waldrich Coburg Gantry Mill with Siemens 840D controls and or WFL and Multiturn machines. Key Responsibilities: • Set up and operate a Waldrich Coburg Gantry Mill with Siemens 840D controls and or VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) CNC machines. • Studying blueprints and work instructions to set up machines with the correct tooling, fixturing, and cutting parameters for the specific part. Ability to indicate parts or fixtures for set up. • Check machined parts using precision measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and other types of gauges to ensure they meet dimensional tolerances. • Maintain drawing requirements including length, diameters, perpendicularity, parallelism, concentricity, etc. while following established operational procedures to perform all machining functions such as turn, mill, bore, groove, chamfer, profile, taper, tap, etc. • Operate bridge cranes, fork trucks, hand trucks, etc. for material handling, and utilize a computerized manufacturing system. Your Expertise: • Extreme attention to detail, ensuring a very high level of accuracy and consistency in machining. • Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or preferred equivalent. • Minimum of 8 years of CNC machining experience – specifically, large complex parts. • Minimum of 5 years’ experience setting up & operating vertical turning lathes (VTLs) • Siemens 840D control experience preferred • Knowledge of cutting tools and machining techniques • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings • Ability to maintain high quality standards and tight tolerances within .001 of an inch. • Strong understanding of CNC machining principles and programming • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) • Ability to troubleshoot by identifying and resolving machining issues, such as tooling issues, incorrect program settings or machine malfunctions. • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills • Ability effectively communicates with others • Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting a distance of 10 feet. • Must be a sole US citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance Experience operating WFL Machines and Waldrich Coburg Machines is necessary.
