Key Responsibilities The CNC Machinist is accountable for the design, fabrication, and assembly of precision machine components and prototypes. This includes setting up and operating a range of machine tools, using hand tools such as micrometers and calipers, and machining prototype components from 3-D model files. • Maintain and operate machine tools, including milling machines, machining centers, engine lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, tool and cutter grinders, cut-off saws, band saws, and abrasive saws to produce high-quality components and prototypes. • Perform bench work with hand tools, including micrometers, calipers, height gages, depth gages, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate measurements and precision. • Design and fabricate fixtures to aid in the machining process as required. • Determine necessary equipment and operating parameters for assignments, including end mills, inserts, drills, reamers, fixturing, cutting speeds, and surface finishes. Additional responsibilities include maintaining machine tools and equipment, participating in quality improvement programs, and performing technical lab functions such as hydro testing and inspection.
