Description NATURE OF WORK: The Automotive Machinist will set-up and operate a variety of machine tools and equipment to clean, examine, adjust and/or repair parts in order to resolve problems to proper and specific specifications. SUPERVISION: Incumbent reports directly to the Store Manager and does not supervise other employees. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Possess a working knowledge of automotive engines and systems, including diagnostics, and the ability to perform basic engine assembly and disassembly -Ability to perform quality work requiring accuracy, precision, concentration and dexterity -Ability to utilize mathematical and computer skills in order to work with technical specifications -Disassemble work pieces including, but not limited to, cylinder heads and blocks -Clean work pieces using heated, caustic chemicals and abrasive blast equipment -Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and tools including, but not limited to, micrometers and dial indicators - Machine parts to specifications using specialized equipment including, but not limited to, boring bars, valve grinders, crank grinders, hones and hydraulic presses - Use precision instruments to measure, examine and/or test completed parts for defects and to ensure conformance to specifications - Diagnose machine malfunctions and determine required adjustments and/or repairs - Routinely clean and lubricate machines, tools and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains or foreign matter - Maintain scrap material by determining whether materials are reusable, recyclable or disposable - Dispose of scrap waste material in accordance with Company policies and environmental regulations - Maintain the ability and commitment to report to work in a continuously timely fashion CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: - High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred - Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen - Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report must be obtained and submitted for approval prior to hire date and satisfactory MVR must be maintained WORK SCHEDULE: Must be able to work a flexible schedule that would allow employee to work an assortment of days, evenings and/or weekends as needed in order to provide quality service while successfully growing the business with profitability and integrity.
