CNC Lead Machinist

CNC Lead Machinist Location: Reading, PA Shift: 7:00 AM-3:30 PM, Monday-Friday Salary: $30.00-$38.00/HR Are you a skilled CNC Machinist with a passion for innovation, precision, and leadership? Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials is seeking an experienced professional to lead our Machining Center of Excellence (MCE) — a key role connecting the design and execution phases for manufacturing products. You’ll drive operational excellence, mentor machinists, and help shape the future of advanced machining. Key Responsibilities: • **Leadership & Planning: • * Organize daily machining activities, prioritize workloads, and ensure efficient workflow and labor utilization. • **Decision-Making: • * Use data and experience to make timely, informed decisions that support production and quality goals. • **Communication & Collaboration: • * Coordinate effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams to achieve seamless project execution. • **Continuous Improvement: • * Identify and implement process enhancements to reduce waste, optimize cycle times, and improve machining efficiency. • **Safety & Compliance: • * Promote a culture of safety, following all company policies and supporting our “zero incidents” goal. • **Programming & Operation: • * Program CNC machines for new parts with a focus on high-precision and complex components. • **Inspection & Quality Control: • * Perform first-article and in-process inspections using manual gauges; make real-time program edits to ensure quality compliance. • **Workflow Optimization: • * Monitor customer (internal and external) orders to ensure on-time delivery and alignment with business objectives. • **Systems & Documentation: • * Utilize ERP software to record job details, time, and production data for transparency and efficiency. • **Team Support: • * Lead by example with integrity, respect, collaboration, and persistence; support teammates in maintaining 5S and quality standards. • **Other Duties: • * Perform additional machining or leadership tasks as assigned. Qualifications: • **Experience: • * Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience, including program writing, setup, and operation. • **Technical Proficiency: • * Skilled in SolidWorks, Mastercam, and 5-axis programming and operation. • **Hands-On Expertise: • * Proven ability to set up and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines. • **Inspection Skills: • * Strong understanding of drawings, tolerances, and manual inspection techniques. • **Leadership Experience: • * Prior experience as a lead machinist or team leader preferred. • **Physical Requirements: • * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods. Pay Transparency: The salary range for this position is $34-$38. Its products include filled chocolates, solid chocolates, chocolate bars and balls, chocolate cups and coins, chocolate patties, and seasonal products. In addition to their own branded products, the Company co-manufactures both seasonal and everyday products for other large branded companies. Today, the Company operates out of two manufacturing facilities and one distribution facility with ~600 full-time employees. R.M. Palmer Company, LLC has some of the most differentiated manufacturing capabilities in the industry as one of the only companies in the U.S. able to make hollow molded chocolate candy products and multicolor chocolate candy novelties. The Machinist fabricates parts from blueprints or samples using manual and CNC machines, demonstrating attention to detail while maintaining a clean workspace and meeting production and quality standards. Responsibilities: • Fabricate custom machine parts using manual lathes, mills, and other shop equipment. • Program and operate CNC machines with minimal supervision. • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workspace. • Keep machine tools clean and in good working order. • Train and assist fellow employees in machining techniques. • Follow all safety procedures and maintain high safety standards. Requirements: Knowledge/Skills: • Proficient in manual machining (milling, turning, grinding). • Skilled in CNC programming and operation. • Strong understanding of materials such as carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel, tool steel, and plastics. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents. • Competent in the use of precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and tape measures. • Strong mathematical skills, including working with fractions, decimals, and geometry. • Effective communication and problem-solving skills. • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Experience: • Minimum of 5 years machining experience as a journey-level machinist in a production environment. • Certificate or degree from technical or trade school preferred. The R. M.
