Machine Operator

Functional • Performs necessary duties as assigned within the "non-skilled" departments within the manufacturing facility as assigned to Machine Operators • Produces a quality product and identifies and corrects quality issues as they arise. • Quickly adapting to a changing environment. • Learns new processes and procedures including participating in cross-training and job rotation programs. • Works when expected and contributes best efforts towards the timely completion of work assignments. • Supports safety, environmental and ergonomics programs/systems such as behavior-based safety, ISO 14000 and ergonomic stretches with a positive approach. • Ability to troubleshoot and correct a component, sub-assembly, and final assembly when performance and/or quality specifications are not met. • Ability to setup and operate multiple pieces of NC/CNC equipment and edit programming as needed to produce parts to specifications. Leadership • Practices effective continuous process improvement techniques by eliminating non-value added activities. • Stays focused on work activities and works through distractions. • Actively participates in performance feedback and coaching process. Interpersonal • Positively participates in making team-based decisions and functions in a team environment. • Keeps pace with the Assembly line or process. Business Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: ISO 9000 & 14000, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality). Requirements EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: • High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • Previous CNC experience preferred. • Acceptable attendance record. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Demonstrated abilities in handling multiple priorities. • Must have the ability to read tooling prints, micrometers, scales, indicators and other measuring devices.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Machinist’s Mates (MM) are responsible for operating and maintaining ship propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment and outside machinery. Specifically, your job responsibilities as an MM may include: • Aligning piping systems for oil, water, air and steam • Operating ship boilers and steam turbines used for ship propulsion • Operating turbo generators used to produce electrical power • Cleaning, adjusting, testing and maintaining boilers, engines, generators • Maintaining auxiliary machinery including steering engines, elevators, winches, pumps and valves • Operating and maintaining water desalination plants • Maintaining refrigeration plants, air conditioning systems and galley equipment • Repairing valves, pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, steam turbines and hydraulic and pneumatic devices • Creating and analyzing machinery operating reports and records PAY & BENEFITS When you serve your country, you become a part of something truly important – and you deserve to be rewarded accordingly.
