Description What you will be doing as a CNC Machinist: In this role, you can expect to set up and operate CNC Mill Turn Lathes to perform basic machining operations like turning, boring, facing, threading, and milling from bar stock. You'll follow process sheets, work instructions, and blueprints to complete your tasks. Start your career with us and develop your skills in a supportive environment! Your responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Equipment Operation : Set up, program, and operate equipment to meet production needs Quality Assurance : Perform in-process inspections and ensure 100% quality of products Tooling and Inspection : Select appropriate tooling/gages for production and inspection Problem Resolution : Identify and resolve discrepancies in setup and run times with the shop floor supervisor (Value Stream Leader) Documentation : Manage document and data control for programs, tool lists, and job packets Continuous Improvement : Participate in training, corrective, and preventative activities to drive continuous improvement What you need to be successful: High School education, GED, or a Bronze Level WorkKeys certification is requiredCNC Lathe mill/turn experience is helpfulAbility to lift materials up to 30 pounds is neededGeneral knowledge of programming skills, basic math, blueprint reading, and GD&T skills is helpfulFamiliar with the below is helpful: Okuma OSD - P300Mazak MazatrolHaas Why join us? Micron Precision Machining is looking for Skilled CNC Lathe Machinists for Low Volume/Protype Precision Machining. We are a full-service machine shop comprised of machinists, programmers, and quality specialists that will help bring customers' designs to life. Qualifications and Experience: • 2+ years experience preferred with Mazak Lathe • Experience operating & setting up own jobs. • Experience making program edits on the machine. • Experience performing machine set-ups, off-sets, and tool changes • Must have own tools (Calipers, Micrometers, Indicators, etc) • Blueprint knowledge Shift: • 1st shift: • 6 am 4:30 Monday Thursday, 6 am- 2:30 Friday, and Saturdays as needed. Your journey may begin in a non-machining or rotational role, designed to give you a strong foundation on the path to becoming a machinist. Candidates must be open to working night shifts and excited about hands-on learning. As part of the Machinist Career Path, you’ll attend Fullerton Tool University (FTU), where you'll gain the technical skills and training needed to succeed in this role. Primary job function: • The machinist or CNC machinist is responsible to program, setup, and operate precision grinding machines. Manufacture cutting tools according to specifications and prints, using a variety of tools, gauges and fixtures to ensure the highest quality for the customer. This entry-level position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to producing precision components. The employee will work under the guidance of experienced team members to develop their skills. Some job positions run multiple machines, some run one at a time. Rotational areas may include media hone or coating areas. • Maintain a neat, clean (5S) and safe work area complying with established job safety practices as well as company policies and procedures. • Read blueprint and router to determine the machining to be performed. Then select the proper work holding and grinding wheels for the job and check material to make sure it conforms. • Program the machine according to specifications to ensure the highest quality possible while optimizing efficiency; grind and adjust tools ensuring correct speeds and feed rates while maintaining precision tolerances. • Inspect completed tools according to company work instructions and report non-conforming product as required. • Perform general maintenance and assist with troubleshooting on all machines in the area. • Follow standard procedures and work instructions, paying special attention to handling of sharp edge cutting tools. Qualifications/Education/Skills • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work. • Dedicated to being at work and on-time as per the attendance policy in FTC handbook. • Works as a team player, cooperative, and adaptable to changes; builds positive relationships. Equipment Used • CNC, NC and manual OD grinders • Digital comparator • Computer-assisted comparator • Microscope • Various measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, scales and snap micrometers. Working Conditions Working with sharp cutting tools. Exposure to noise, grinding oil/coolant. Long periods of working on your feet. Physical Requirements Requires lifting, pushing, pulling up to 30lbs. Frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling, grasping, using hands to handle or feel, and turning/twisting. Occasionally required to stoop, bend, or sit. Also requires close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
