The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating CNC machinery and possess the ability to read and interpret technical drawings. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality components. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines, ensuring that all products meet specifications and quality standards. Duties • Set up and operate CNC machines, including lathes and mills, according to specifications. • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements. • Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to ensure accuracy of machined parts. • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance. • Program CNC machines using CAD/CAM software, including SolidWorks, as needed. • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and improve machining processes. • Conduct quality checks on finished products to maintain high standards of workmanship. • Use hand tools and power tools effectively for various machining tasks. Skills • Proficiency in operating CNC machinery with a strong mechanical knowledge base. • Experience with programming CNC machines; familiarity with Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is a plus. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files accurately. • Skilled in using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers for precision work. • Knowledge of welding techniques is beneficial but not required. • Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software for design purposes. • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in all aspects of work. On the job training is provided as needed. Job Functions: • Performs advanced setup operations and adjusts machine tools to perform operations from provided programs. • Adjusts and checks out programming. • Operates CNC machine tools to perform complex series of progressive machining operations on a diverse line of work. • Adjusts speeds and feeds during operation. • Works from programming instructions, operational data, and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations, and console settings for operations such as bore, mill, drill, face, thread, and occasional profiling and contouring. • Check parts for conformance to specifications. • May run more than one unit simultaneously Physical Demands: Some heavy lifting, no more than 50 lbs without mechanical assistance. Bending, stooping, and twisting are normal motions during operation. Work Environment: Job shop manufacturing floor environment. As such, exposure to oil, dirt, debris, fumes moving machinery and equipment, and occasional high decibels are typical. Shop floor is climate controlled. PPE is required at all times.
