Job Description Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist located in Bucyrus, OH. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines, performing precise machining operations, and milling tasks. The individual in this role will also be required to conduct quality control checks and ensure that all machinery is functioning correctly and efficiently. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings, programming CNC machines, and maintaining a safe and organized workspace. As a CNC Machinist in a lean, efficient small-to-medium shop, you'll handle custom, low-repetition machining using state-of-the-art equipment on long-run prototype projects. Key Responsibilities • Load raw materials, run programs, and manage machining operations. • Complete part operations, including pulling, inspecting, and preparing parts. • Adapt to a variable work schedule - part runs ranging from minutes to multiple days. • Operate up to 8 large-envelope 3-axis and 5-axis mills, as well as 4-meter machines, primarily using FANUC controls. • Adjust and regulate part configurations, both manually and using machine controls. • Set up and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining centers on a wide variety of materials. • Interpret drawings, specifications, process sheets, tape readouts, and shop orders to plan and verify work. • Obtain the correct tools from the tool crib, select holders, and then mount, secure, and check the tools for accuracy. • Interpret drawings, route sheets, diagrams, specifications, and instructions to figure out the proper operation sequences. • Precisely calculate and apply tool depth and compensation adjustments. • Locate zero points, ensure parallelism, and accurately positioning materials for tape control. • Collect and input statistical process control (SPC) data using instruments like comparators, CMMs, Trimos, and various gauges and test instruments. • Perform necessary side operations, such as deburring, during machine cycle time as needed. Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • 5+ years of CNC milling experience. • Ability to operate machine tools (lathes, mills, shapers, grinders). • Able to identify non-conforming parts using precision measuring tools. • Ability to set up CNC equipment, align parts in proper work holdings, set tooling, and apply offsets. • Familiarity with CNC machine operation, including program editing and setup. • Can calculate surface footage to machine components with tooling/material data. • Capable of interpreting layouts, job packets, and blueprints, and Geometric Tolerancing.
