R&D Machinist/Tool and Die Specialist

As an R&D Machinist/Tool and Die Specialist, you will play a vital role in our Medina Packaging Development Center by setting up and operating a range of machine tools. Your primary focus will be on producing extrusion tooling, blow molds, precision parts, and various instruments. You will also have the opportunity to fabricate and modify parts for machine tools, quality equipment, and production tooling, utilizing your expertise in mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, and machining procedures. Your Responsibilities • Edit CNC programs and create new ones using MasterCam. • Study specifications from blueprints, sketches, or models, and visualize products to determine required materials and machinery for fabrication. • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using your mathematical knowledge and measuring instruments. • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on metal stock for machining. • Set up and operate various machine tools, including manual lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to machine parts, ensuring they meet specifications. Experience with CNC Milling machines like Haas, Fadal, Hermle, DMU, and CNC Lathes such as Haas, Okuma Howa, and Mori Seiki is essential. • Monitor machine feed and speed during machining, making adjustments as needed. • Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and verify compliance with specifications, using precision instruments like micrometers, indicators, gauge blocks, Starrett CMM machine, Mitutoyo Quick Scope, and Optical Comparator. Qualifications • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, along with 3+ years of experience. A Journeyman's or equivalent certification is preferred. • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are essential. • Working knowledge of extrusion or blow molding equipment is a plus.
