Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address any issues. • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex blueprints, job travelers, and layouts, applying knowledge of GD&T to ensure proper machining and measurements. • Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to machine set-ups, production processes, and efficiency. • Production Documentation: Maintain accurate records in EPICOR, tracking time, quantity, and scrap data for all assigned work orders. • Machine Maintenance: Inspect and perform minor repairs on machinery to keep operations running smoothly. • Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations. Required Skills & Abilities: • Ability to set up and operate CNC and manual machine tools (lathes, mills). • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T. • Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent time management. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative work environment. • Familiarity with EPICOR or similar ERP systems is a plus. Job Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Journeyman Machinist to join our team. Summary Job Description: Responsible for running various milling machines. This involves tasks related to set-up, machine operation, and disposing of chips as required. Required Qualifications: Education: o High school diploma or equivalent is required. o A.S. or B.S. in engineering or related degree is preferred. Training and Certification: o Successful completion of journeyman, industry or equipment Certification (i.e. Haas, Mazak, Fuji, etc) Program is preferred. Skills and Knowledge: o Understand how to load materials, change tooling, and run programs on CNC machines. o Read and understand blueprints and schematics and the relationships of features, orientation and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing. o Understanding of how the machine works to maintain the machinery for which they are responsible and ensure it functions properly. o Problem-solving skills in order to detect issues in the creation process and find solutions to ensure the machinery creates the product provided in the draft o Demonstrated proficiency using the following measuring tools: inside and outside micrometers, depth micrometers, dial and digital calipers, indicators both thousands and tenths, and profilometers. o Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience on finishing lathes and 2 years on milling machines. o Possess strong computer skills and a fundamental knowledge of CAD/CAM software and how it translates all the commands into the automated cutting inside the machine or other tooling actions. Ability to read G code and understand what the CNC programs will do reading the G code. o Ability to calculate using fractions and decimals and identify radii required. Shift: 8 hours regular shifts and 12 hours over-time shifts. Breaks: 30 minute lunch. Flooring: Cement, wooden platforms, rubber mats. Environment: Machine shop environment. Need to be careful with other employees while moving overhead cranes in the vicinity. Safety Equipment: Hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes. Strength Range: Medium to Medium-Heavy strength range. Tools and Equipment: Milling machine, variety of cutters and hand tools, chip pushers, cranes, shovels, and brooms.
