Salary Range $23.20 - 48.36 Per Hour JOB SUMMARY: Repair, recondition, weld, fabricate, service and prepare CAT and other Empire line allied machines and components for delivery. Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions and failures of machines, engines, machine systems and components. Work in adverse weather and other adverse situations presented by field working conditions. Accept all out-of-town assignments requiring extended overnight stays. Provide on-the-job training to helpers as assigned. Communicate, orally and in writing, information, instructions, and explanations to associates, clients and management regarding equipment conditions, problems, and recommendations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, metallurgical and stress failures. Ask for assistance in cases where the diagnosis has not been made within four hours. • Eliminate or recommend action to eliminate the source of the problem. • Prepare inspection and appraisal reports. • Comprehend and interpret sketches and diagrams including engineering drawings and blueprints. • Plan and control repair jobs. Analyze client requirements and determine the scope of work. • In advance of a service trip, arrange to take parts, tools, proper size welding rod or wire, technical publications and other material required to complete the job. • At the job site, organize the job sequence, and arrange with the dispatcher for all sublet or component rework required. Direct and coordinate the work of assigned helpers to minimize waiting, idle time, and inefficiencies. Monitor and control job progress. • Repair, recondition, weld, fabricate, and maintain equipment and components. • Prepare equipment for delivery. Remove and install components and parts. Disassemble and reassemble components. • Determine parts reusability in accordance with published reusability guidelines. Order replacements and arrange for repairs. • Service and maintain equipment (preventive maintenance), adjust (tune up), and test mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, and components. • Operate welding equipment. Perform arc welding, air arc, gas welding and cutting in vertical up, flat and overhead positions using correct temperatures and procedures for the type of material being welded. • Works safely at all times. Adheres to all applicable safety policies. Complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Learn and use Empire and CAT procedures and systems. • Prepare Service Reports. • Maintain company equipment. Report repair or replacement needs to the supervisor. • Make warranty recommendations to supervision via job closing questionnaire. • Maintain good client relations. Assist the client in making repair or replacement decisions. Explain the causes of equipment operating difficulties and failures to clients and the corrective action necessary to prevent them. Handle all client concerns with tact and diplomacy. • Works within and promotes corporate values. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Demonstrated technical skill competence. • Knowledge and skills to operate and understand diagnostic equipment including computerized instrumentation. • Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming adhere to company policy. • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively. • Ability to obtain CDL. • Knowledge of CAT machine components and systems. • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment. • Ability to maintain consistent attendance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). • Current driver’s license. • Minimum of 6 months related experience. • Completion of TRAIN test evaluation. • Proof of current valid CDL if required by position. • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English. Local Machining Leader

About the position We are seeking an Associate to lead and oversee the day-to-day machining and tooling inspection and repair activities for multiple locations with a focus on internal customer support, on-time delivery, procedure compliance, and Associate development. This Associate will serve as the primary point of contact for all Machining and Tooling Inspection and repair activities, addressing questions and concerns as they arise.
