Responsibilities: The Machinist is responsible for controlling machines and processes by using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate. This role will calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Machine parts to specification using tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders. Set-up, adjust and operate all basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations. Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process. Lay out, measure, and mark metal stock in order to display placement of cuts. Inspecting hardware or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems/defects. Able to analyze information, evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Assessing the value, importance, quality of parts material and or processes. Stay up to date on technology and applying new knowledge to your job. Program numerically controlled machine tool or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate quality products and determine product dimensions and tolerances. Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machining work. Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment in order to remove grease, rust, stains, and foreign matter. Confer with Sr Machinist regularly ensure that new programs or machinery will function properly, and output will meet specifications. Perform in-process inspection using standard measurement equipment. Accurately complete process paperwork, as required. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications – External/internal: 8-10 years of machining experience. Ability to work under minimal direction. Good verbal and written communication skills. Handling, installing, positioning, moving/manipulating materials. Performing physical activities that require frequent activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. What You Will Do: • Set-up, operate and control process on all product produced on CNC Milling machines, working with metals including aluminum, copper, and steel. • Determine machining requirements by reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications. • Adjust feed and speed to meet surface finish requirements and adjust tool offsets. • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. • Remove worn cutting tools, re-grinding to conform to drawing requirements, and replacing. • Execute production plan according to manufacturing schedule and work instructions. • Control the quality of product according to Inspection Plan while maintaining quality records. • Maintain and perform daily preventative machine maintenance and any other machine related needs. • Troubleshoot and solve minor to semi-complex problems and issues and conduct minor root cause analysis. • Socket pinning • Prepare parts for assembly • Other duties as assigned Requirements: • What You Bring: • A minimum of 4 years' experience with CNC vertical and multi axis machines. • Understanding GD&T symbols and knows or is willing to learn geometric requirements: (size, location, orientation, and form). • Experience with tight tolerances (+/- .0008 to +/- .0005) • Basic math skills for performing calculations and measurements. • Knowledge of machining principles, tooling, and cutting techniques. • Ability to work with minimal supervision or instruction. • The ability to understand blueprints, customer drawings, SOP's, work instructions, and other technical information in English. • Experience with, or understanding of, machining process automation. • High school diploma or equivalent. Duties/Responsibilities: Operates various types of conventional, special purpose, and machining centers to fabricate metal and non-metal parts.
