Machine Shop Operator

Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second. We are currently hiring Machine Shop Operators for our busy Cast Support department. This position is responsible for rebuilding and overhauling cast cups, wheel frames, modules, and nozzle assemblies, and supplying rebuilt parts to amorphous metal production lines. Essential Job Functions: • Transport parts to be rebuilt/overhauled from production line, using forklift/cart; position parts for disassembly, using overhead crane. • Verify rebuild parameters, using ISO documents, production requirements, and computer system. • Disassemble parts using various hand & pneumatic tools, micrometer, torque wrench, grinder, lathe, and drill press. • Enter rebuilt part information into the computer system. • Transport rebuilt parts to production line or inventory, using forklift/cart. • Perform Nozzle Shop activities as needed to support production requirements and for vacation/absentee coverage.* • Perform calibration activities in the cast support shop and nozzle shop. • These duties are independent of Cast Support Certification/Qualification and may lead to Nozzle Shop and/or calibration certification/qualification Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs): • Ability to read and understand measurements and directions. • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. • Basic computer skills: ability to enter, retrieve, and evaluate data. • Micrometer experience. • Feeler gauges and set gap experience. Education, Training, & Experience: • High school graduate or equivalent • Industrial/mechanical experience operating lathes, grinders, drill presses, torque wrenches, micrometers, hand & pneumatic tools, and powered industrial forklifts/carts/trucks • Must be clean shaven every day and able to wear a respirator when/if/as needed • Must commit to wearing the proper PPE every day, all day as required. • Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour schedule. • Shifts run 7a-7p and 7p-7a • Rotation schedule is 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on 3 days off on one shift (7a-7pm or 7p-7a) for 2 weeks, then the same on the opposing shift. • Overtime pay after 40 hours/week ITAR and EAR Disclosure Statement: This position requires compliance with ITAR and/or EAR requirements. Operator - Milling Machine

PURPOSE: Perform duties to set the Milling Machine up for operation, to maintain a smooth, consistent and correctly aligned operation. JOB DUTIES: Check all fluid levels at the beginning of engine startup for the day. Monitor and maintain gauges, fluid levels, operation and function throughout the day during operation. Maintain awareness of unusual noises or operations and bring any exceptions to the attention of the foreman. The ability to perform light mechanical adjustments and to assist mechanic performing repairs on assigned equipment. Assist with the lubrication and fueling of the Milling Machine. Responsible for control and operation of the milling machine. Operates milling machine to properly mill asphalt to desired specifications based on usage. Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of milling machine that mills asphalt on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc. May perform other related duties, such as preventive maintenance on all milling machinery. The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the Foreman or Superintendent. The ability to work at nights and work extended shifts when project dictates. Follow safety rules and keep equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Perform other related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE: Some use of reading and writing, adding and subtracting of whole numbers. Following instructions. Use of fixed gauges. Panel Machine Operator

The Panel Machine Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining panel forming equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting warehouse operations. This position requires attention to detail, coordination with the Sales Department to ensure high-quality output, and safe operation of forklifts and other equipment.
