CNC Machine Operator

Job Summary: Operates a minimum of two (2) CNC machines and related equipment effectively to perform a variety of operations such as milling, drilling, tapping, boring, turning, grinding and inspecting as necessary under close supervision. Location: Jacksonville, NC Schedule: Monday - Friday Shift: 2pm - 10pm Requirements: • Operates CNC machines and related equipment to produce quality and quantity required by department. • Makes own tool changes and offsets. • Inspects work and uses SPC to produce work of required quality. • Accurately uses micrometers, verniers and comparators to inspect work • Checks gages for proper calibration and informs supervisors when they are not properly calibrated. • Produces quality and quantity of work in accordance with departmental requirements. • Assures accurate recording of vital information such as counts, scrap, time, etc. according to company and departmental policies and procedures. • Observes all plant and departmental safety practices and procedures. • Prepares required paperwork. • Performs preventative maintenance as required, and keeps machines lubricated. • Follows housekeeping procedures in maintaining a neat and orderly work area. • Cleans chips from machines as required. • Checks coolant tanks and refills as necessary. Qualifications: • Must be able to understand and follow instructions in English. • Must be able to understand and interpret blueprints. • Must have demonstrated mechanical ability. • Must be able to read and understand operation sheets. Special Qualifications: • Have an understanding of in-process and post process gauging and how it affects a work piece. • Capable of using basic tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers. • Capable of learning multi-functional material handling systems. • Understand and operate wheel positioning in both the X and Z coordinates in order to setup a grinding. • Understand SPC trends and know how to react with machine adjustments to bring the equipment back in control. • Understand and know how to make manual adjustments on Centerless grinders, O.D. and I.D. grinders, Honing, in order to maintain size, straightness, and roundness. • Do work piece inspections using micrometer / calibers / Form testers / Vision systems / boroscope / go – no go gauge blocks / air rings / air spindles with column gages, tri rollers, and surface analyzer. • Must have an understanding of CNC and manual stock removal adjustments, and deburring operations. • Assist in reducing scrap rate. • Willing and able to work flex schedule if needed.
