CNC Machine Operator

Job Full DescriptionJob Summary: Operates a minimum of two (2) CNC machines and related equipment effectively to perform a variety of operations such as milling, drilling, tapping, boring, turning, grinding and inspecting as necessary under close supervision. Location: Jacksonville, NC Schedule: Monday - Friday Shift: 2pm - 10pm Requirements: Operates CNC machines and related equipment to produce quality and quantity required by department. Makes own tool changes and offsets. Inspects work and uses SPC to produce work of required quality. Accurately uses micrometers, verniers and comparators to inspect work Checks gages for proper calibration and informs supervisors when they are not properly calibrated. Produces quality and quantity of work in accordance with departmental requirements. Assures accurate recording of vital information such as counts, scrap, time, etc. according to company and departmental policies and procedures. Observes all plant and departmental safety practices and procedures. Prepares required paperwork. Performs preventative maintenance as required, and keeps machines lubricated. Follows housekeeping procedures in maintaining a neat and orderly work area. Cleans chips from machines as required. Checks coolant tanks and refills as necessary. Qualifications: Must be able to understand and follow instructions in English. Must be able to understand and interpret blueprints. Must have demonstrated mechanical ability. Must be able to read and understand operation sheets. Special Qualifications: Have an understanding of in-process and post process gauging and how it affects a work piece. Capable of using basic tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers. Capable of learning multi-functional material handling systems. Understand and operate wheel positioning in both the X and Z coordinates in order to setup a grinding. Understand SPC trends and know how to react with machine adjustments to bring the equipment back in control. Understand and know how to make manual adjustments on Centerless grinders, O.D. and I.D. grinders, Honing, in order to maintain size, straightness, and roundness. Do work piece inspections using micrometer / calibers / Form testers / Vision systems / boroscope / go - no go gauge blocks / air rings / air spindles with column gages, tri rollers, and surface analyzer. We are seeking a skilled and reliable CNC Plasma Cutter Operator & HVAC Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our dynamic team at our Jacksonville, NC prefabrication warehouse. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a CNC plasma cutting system and fabricating high-quality HVAC duct components in accordance with industry standards and project specifications. Pay: $19.00-25.00 per hour, depending on experience Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k with Match Key Responsibilities: • Operate CNC plasma cutting tables (e.g., Vulcan or similar) to cut galvanized, stainless, or aluminum sheet metal. • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and shop tickets to determine cutting and fabrication requirements. • Fabricate and assemble HVAC ductwork (rectangular, spiral, fittings), ensuring proper sealing and compliance. • Use various fabrication tools and machines including shears, roll formers, Pittsburgh, TDC, and slip rolls. • Inspect and finish ductwork components; perform grinding, deburring, and apply insulation or lining as needed. • Maintain a safe and clean work environment; follow safety procedures and attend regular safety meetings. Qualifications: • HS Diploma or equivalent is the minimum required education for this position. • 2+ years of experience with CNC plasma cutting tables in a sheet metal or HVAC environment. • Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings accurately. • Familiarity with SMACNA standards is preferred. • Proficiency in basic math and use of measuring tools. • Experience operating standard sheet metal fabrication equipment. • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and moving for extended periods.
