CNC Operator - Defence and Military Systems - Permanent - Attractive - South-West 3 Shift Pattern on Weekly Rotation - Earlies/Lates/Nights A CNC Operator is required to join an International Defence Systems company that designs, manufactures, and supports world leading military Systems. The successful CNC Operator will be responsible for setting and operating CNC machines to produce safety critical products that meet strict design and engineering criteria. The CNC Operator will report to the CNC Team Leader within the CNC Machine Shop. The CNC Operator will be responsible the CNC machinery during operation and the CNC tooling and fixtures (status, usability, and cleanliness) specified for the process and manufacturing activities undertaken. The CNC Operator will be responsible for the following: • To set (tooling and fixtures) and run (proven program) designated CNC resource. • Work with defined work instructions, within a defined manufacturing process. • Manufacturing Engineering activity for prove-out of new process activities. • Carry out a minimum level of minor/ basic editing of CNC programs. • Liaise with quality team to close any defined gap between submitted work piece and design. • Where applicable work to defined Inspection Control Plans. • Carry out any data capture required to improve process capability and control. • Ensure that work is moved on to the next work centre on completion of current operation. • Support the business to meet defined KPIs e.g. On Time Delivery. • Ensure health & safety requirements of the individual and team members are met. • Actively support continuous improvements activities throughout the business. • Support the process to ensure all necessary tooling/materials/documentation is available. • Support development and maintenance of workforce by training colleagues, as necessary. • Undertake training identified/specified to achieve acceptable/improved levels of skill set. • Support the development and actively encourage a team culture within the machine shop. • Maintain systems and procedures to enable compliance with AS9100 quality standard. • Work with/support teams in the introduction of new products and production processes • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness in the machine shop areas. The CNC Operator should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience: • Demonstrated experience in CNC machining (Milling and / or Turning and / or Mill-Turn). • Experience with high precision products from a variety of materials and forms. • Experience in high value, low volume mechanical manufacturing environment. • In-depth knowledge of Fanuc controls. • A demonstrable ability to problem solve is desirable. • Having a Secondary skill-set(s) is a distinct advantage. • e.g. another CNC skill-set, Manual Turning, EDM, Rotary and Cylindrical Grinding etc. • A demonstrable background in delivering Continual Improvement ideas is an advantage. • Computer literate and a good communicator at all levels • *Security Clearance (SC) may be required due to the nature of the Defence products involved** Demand for this role will undoubtedly be high, and interviews will be arranged very soon.
