Machine Operator​/Sewer

Position: Machine Operator (Sewer) Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Receives and interprets work orders, material specifications, and other work procedures to sew webbing and attachment devices onto tarp fabric to create finished products. • Supports tarp fabrication through stitching, sewing, and reinforcing various materials such as vinyl, cloth, plastic screening, and others as specified by the customer. May also cut and sew specialty tarp patterns based on order specifications. • Must be able to get down on the floor and get up again when not using the sewing machine to make modifications to tarps. This ability is as important as operating the sewing machine. • Ensures all stitching is neat, clean, straight, and meets or exceeds industry and customer quality standards. • Maintains a safe work environment by wearing all prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), stopping work immediately in case of non-conformance, and reporting unsafe acts or conditions to the supervisor. • Practices 5-S within the work area, returns tools to proper places, and cleans the work area after completing tasks, ensuring it is free of debris. Establishes designated storage for tools if none exists, in consultation with supervisors and co-workers. • Supports continuous improvement efforts both individually and as part of the team, across tasks and organizational levels. • Performs routine maintenance and safety checks on tools and equipment, reporting any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor and locking out unsafe equipment. • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Tarp Fabrication Department Supervisor and Plant Manager. • No supervisory responsibilities are generally required for this position.#J-18808-Ljbffr
