Machinist Multicraft I GENERAL SUMMARY: This position requires the fabrication of replacement parts and custom components. This position requires knowledge of general tools and equipment used in a machine shop environment. Associate must have the ability to create CAD and fabricate parts from drawings. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Obeys all plant/safety rules and complies with all OSHA regulations. Performs job that requires all levels of skill in order to repair, rebuild, fabricate parts or equipment from drawings or verbal instructions. Operates such equipment for fabrication of parts safely and efficiently. Utilizes new or used materials as designated for fabrication. Performs welding as required. Maintains written reports, sketches or drawings of parts of equipment as needed. Provides guidance to maintenance mechanics in lower classifications. Maintains all tools and equipment skillfully and required to maintain and keep them clean. Works closely with production associates on machine problems as requested. Performs timely inspections of boiler equipment based upon guidelines identified in most current boiler operation variance. Attends training sessions. Maintains good housekeeping practices and proper safety procedures. Master of General Multi-Craft skills Performs other duties assigned. Experience Required: Required Length & Type of Experience: Two years of experience in a similar position recommended. Multicraft experience is beneficial. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have the ability to read and write. Ability in math skills to include Algebra, Geometry and some Trigonometry. Must have strong reasoning skills. Ability to make rational and reasonable decisions independently. Must have good oral communication skills. Ability to work with a high degree of independence. Must be proficient in the operation of lathes, mills, saws, drill presses and other shop equipment and hand tools. Must have a good knowledge of all machinist measuring devices to be proficient in measuring and fabricating. Ability to identify various types of metals and understand their job characteristics including elongation, stress and brittleness. Knowledgeable of welding metals and methods of stress relieving and tempering. Must demonstrate a continued desire to learn higher skills in order to develop as a machinist. Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or GED • 0 – 6 months manufacturing experience Physical Requirements: • Must be able to stand entire shift (8+ hrs.). • Ability to lift up to 50lbs. • Requires manual dexterity. • Moderate physical demand involving lifting and moving of materials and equipment. • Frequently moves from waist level to floor level. 1st shift - 7am to 3pm
