Overview: The Tooling & Fixtures Machinist (CNC & Manual) plays a key role in supporting our production team by machining, building, and maintaining the custom tools and fixtures that make high-quality manufacturing possible. This is a hands-on role where you’ll move between blueprint interpretation, performing mathematical calculations, running CNC and manual mills and lathes, and performing precision final assembly. Additionally, candidates should be comfortable with 2nd or 3rd shifts and working overtime as needed. Shift Availabilities • 2nd: 2pm - 10pm • 3rd: 10pm - 6am Education & Experience • Requires two year associates or equivalent degree in Machine Tool Technology (e.g. TCAT - Machine Tool Technology Degree) • Currently enrolled students will be considered • Requires 2 years of hand-on experience in an industrial CNC environment Benefits • $28.5 - 32 / hr • Health, dental, and vision insurance • 401(k) retirement savings plan • Paid time off, holidays, and personal leave Responsibilities • Tooling & Fixture Fabrication – Build custom tools and fixtures from engineering drawings to support production and inspection processes. • CNC & Manual Machining – Program, set up, and operate CNC mills/lathes and manual machines, including but not limited to: Fanuc Robodrill, Mazak Vertical Center, Mazak VARIAXIS, Mazak INTEGREX. • Blueprint Interpretation – Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T specifications, and tolerance stack-ups to ensure precision fabrication. • Programming & Calculations – Apply trigonometry, geometry, and machining formulas to calculate tool paths, offsets, and setups; write or modify G-code programs to ensure precise machine operation and part conformity. • Precision Assembly – Assemble and align components to meet dimensional and structural requirements for tooling applications. • Inspection & Quality – Perform visual and dimensional inspections to verify part conformance using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measurement tools. • Preventive Maintenance – Perform routine maintenance on shop equipment and tooling systems to ensure continued performance and reliability. • Team Collaboration – Work closely with production operators, maintenance techs, and engineering to continuously improve tooling designs and processes. Qualifications • Education & Certification – Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent technical training is required. Candidates currently enrolled are eligible for the position. • CNC Machining – Minimum 2 years of experience in a CNC machine shop environment, including setup, operation, and basic programming. • CNC Programming – Proficient in G-code programming and conversational controls (e.g., Mazatrol); able to calculate offsets, tool paths, and modify programs to optimize machining performance and part accuracy. • Blueprint Reading – Strong ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications. • Mathematics – Proficient in geometry, trigonometry, ratios, and tolerance calculations as applied to machining and fixturing. • Mechanical Aptitude – Skilled in manual machining, mechanical assembly, part alignment, and troubleshooting. • Communication – Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting work and collaborating across teams. • Physical Requirements – Able to stand for extended periods, lift 25–50 lbs, and perform work involving bending, twisting, kneeling, and use of hand tools. • Work Conditions – Comfortable working around moving machinery, in environments with moderate noise, vibration, and occasional exposure to chemicals.
