Job Title: Machine Shop Technician Department: Production Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt Summary The Machine Shop Technician uses blueprints, sketches, computer aided design (CAD) and manufacturing files to fabricate and machine precision parts. Set up of different types of equipment that are controlled by computers is required in order to accomplish goals with accuracy while also maintaining high levels of production rates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Operate a variety of simple and complex machine tools including precision equipment, presses and CNC machines • Perform all setup functions including tool grinding, tool setup, fixture setup, machine set point and general part and document preparation. • Perform fabrication, machining and finishing steps required to make complete parts. • Inspect all work and that of prior and succeeding operators to insure drawing and process conformity • Sets up and operates completely and independently on all simple and complex machines • Operates all simple and complex machines after basic set up has been made by others, or where set up is simple • Performs simple repetitive machining operations on mills, lathes, presses and other related tasks in order to produce an item or part • Perform all work to specific tolerances and Company standards • Works from blueprints, sketches, printed or verbal information or instructions • Required to run and edit NC programs for adjustments to feed, speed off sets, etc • Perform common tasks associated with making parts, getting material, tools and supplies; transporting, drilling, taping, inserting, hand forming any material used in the performance of their duties • Assist in panel assembly, edge fill or honey comb assembly in a work cell environment • Clean-up of work areas, tools, and equipment • Performs other duties as assigned • Be able to use CAD, Mastercam, Fusion 360 or Bob cam • Train others Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
