HVAC Controls Technician - 527424

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $27.21 - Midpoint: $35.35 (Hourly N9) Department/Organization: 504106 - Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm; some shift work & extended hours Job Summary: The HVAC Controls Technician performs daily checks, routine and preventative maintenance, and repairs to DDC and pneumatic control systems and all heating/cooling ventilation systems. Interprets and works from specifications, plans, and blueprints. Drives from site-to-site. Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of HVAC experience to include two (2) years of installing, testing calibration, troubleshooting of pneumatic, Direct Digital, and computer host HVAC controls, and using proprietary programming languages to enable and alter controls software, and entering these new programs into control system processors and memories; OR journeyman card in HVAC and two (2) years of experience installing, testing calibration, troubleshooting of pneumatic, Direct Digital, and computer host HVAC controls, and using proprietary programming languages to enable and alter controls software, and entering these new programs into control system processors and memories. EPA Section 608 HVAC Universal Certification. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen. Skills and Knowledge: Ability to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials, and supplies of the job. Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot blueprints, drawings, manuals, maps, schematics, and plans. Ability to do material takeoffs. Good people skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Good communications skills, both written and verbal. Summary of Duties The role of the HVAC Installer involves a thorough understanding of blueprints and specifications to accurately install systems and components. Responsibilities include inspecting current HVAC systems for effectiveness and safety, as well as installing, maintaining, and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems.
