The primary function of this position is to repair, maintain, alter, and install heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) units and systems. This role is essential for ensuring the proper functioning of HVAC systems across various buildings on campus, contributing to a comfortable and safe environment for all occupants. In this position, the HVAC Mechanic will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the operation and maintenance of air delivery equipment, heating and cooling coils, and associated control systems. The role requires working with both traditional and computerized control systems, as well as performing water treatment for different types of HVAC systems. The mechanic will also be involved in cutting, threading, and bending pipes, as well as inspecting and repairing various HVAC components such as pumps, valves, and compressors. The HVAC Mechanic will be expected to conduct daily checks on heating and refrigeration systems, lubricate equipment, change filters, and perform preventive maintenance. Safety and compliance with mechanical codes are paramount, and the mechanic will need to be knowledgeable about these regulations.
