HVAC and Commercial Refrigeration Technician in Starkville or Columbus, MS area TEMCO, a Tech24 Company, are a full-service commercial kitchen equipment repair company. We provide complete foodservice equipment maintenance and repair services for restaurants, QSRs, convenience stores, retailers, coffee shops, and concessions operations, specializing in commercial cooking, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment. The Commercial HVAC and Refrigeration Technician is responsible for operating a company vehicle to and from customer sites to troubleshoot, maintain and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. To be a successful Commercial HVAC/R Technician, you should be able to work independently, possess strong technical and troubleshooting skills and be an expert in customer service. Responsibilities of a Commercial Refrigeration Technician: • Troubleshoots and repairs commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment • Inspects the commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment and their related components to ensure safe operation. • Communicates with customer and branch staff regarding status of repairs to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated with customers. • Completes service tickets according to procedures. • Tracks truck stock to ensure needed parts are stocked on vehicle. • Sustains service vehicle, tools, and uniforms to Tech24 standards. • Sets a positive example for less experienced and/or new technicians by being a Company advocate. • Follows all company policies and procedures, particularly regarding safety. Qualifications of a Commercial Refrigeration Technician: • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record • 3-5 years of related experience. • Superb customer service skills • Dependable and able to work independently • Standard computer skills • Own industry’s standard hand tools • Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters • Ability to travel extensively within the region • Ability to work some nights, weekend, and holidays for on-call rotation with your department (frequency varies with department size) • Mechanically inclined with a hunger to learn new techniques and approaches • Previous experience as a commercial HVAC and Refrigeration technician required • Universal EPA certification is highly preferred. About the position The HVAC Mechanic I or II position is a full-time role within the Physical Plant Administration department at the Main Campus in Starkville, MS. The primary function of this position is to repair, maintain, alter, and install heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) units and systems. This role is essential for ensuring the proper functioning of HVAC systems across various buildings on campus, contributing to a comfortable and safe environment for all occupants. In this position, the HVAC Mechanic will be responsible for a variety of tasks including the operation and maintenance of air delivery equipment, heating and cooling coils, and associated control systems. The role requires working with both traditional and computerized control systems, as well as performing water treatment for different types of HVAC systems. The mechanic will also be involved in cutting, threading, and bending pipes, as well as inspecting and repairing various HVAC components such as pumps, valves, and compressors. The HVAC Mechanic will be expected to conduct daily checks on heating and refrigeration systems, lubricate equipment, change filters, and perform preventive maintenance. Responsibilities • Repair, maintain, alter, install and operate air delivery equipment, support components, heating and ventilating units. , • Work on traditional and computerized control systems and components associated with HVAC delivery systems. , • Work on water treatment for various types of closed and open systems. , • Cut, thread, and bend pipe using various tools and machines. , • Check assigned buildings and units' heating and refrigeration systems daily. , • Operate, maintain, alter, and install mechanical refrigeration systems. , • Inspect, install, troubleshoot, and repair piping fixtures and equipment. , • Lubricate fans, motors, and pumps, change filters and belts, and adjust controls. , • Test equipment for leaks and make corrections as necessary. , • Check gauges and perform preventive maintenance on all HVAC equipment. , • Monitor and clean boiler systems to maintain proper water temperature. , • Erect and work from ladders, scaffolding, boom trucks, and similar devices. , • Recommend requisition materials and parts. , • Assist with or interpret blueprints, sketches, and job specifications. , • Prepare as-built drawings of mechanical systems and document job time and materials used. , • Comply with all safety and mechanical codes. , • Perform related duties as assigned.
