About the position The HVAC Mechanic II position is a full-time role within the Facilities Management unit, responsible for the installation and repair of industrial and commercial refrigerating systems. This position requires a high level of technical skill and knowledge in HVAC systems, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The HVAC Mechanic II will be expected to perform a variety of tasks including laying out reference points for the installation of structural and functional components, drilling holes, and installing mounting brackets and hangers into the floors and walls of buildings. The role also involves lifting or hoisting components into position, and assembling various parts such as switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes using screws, bolts, rivets, welding, and brazing techniques. In addition to installation, the HVAC Mechanic II will start systems, observe operations, read gauges and instruments, and make necessary adjustments to mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to regulate fluid levels, pressure, and temperature within the systems. The position also requires dismantling malfunctioning systems, testing components, and replacing or adjusting defective or worn parts to ensure systems are functioning properly. Insulating shells and cabinets of systems and installing wiring to connect components to electric power sources are also key responsibilities. The HVAC Mechanic II may be required to perform other reasonable duties as assigned by management.
